Good article, makes me wish I was on that forum.
On a side note: The side navigation still leads to the old page.

I haven't had a chance to do anything with the site code all week. I've been pretty absorbed with adjusting to life in France. :)
Glad you're liking the content.

Yeah I do. But I have something else to add after thinking about it a bit more.
The article largely describes something that we as a group see as negative: consolisation. Now this is a presentation we give of ourselves, and we do it mainly by describing the other side.
I still think it's a good article, but it works more for our own group identity than for presenting ourselves to the outside world. This is of course due to how it originated and where it is placed now.
A newcomer who reads the frontpage might play mainly console games and could still become a great benefit for this community. But to achieve that we need to point at our strengths instead of other's weaknesses, highlight the things we like way more than what we don't like.
In the context of this article this could have been done by naming upcoming games that we know won't suffer from consolisation and fan missions created by our members that exemplify the sort of gameplay we mean.
If we want to keep up this intelligent PC gamers elite thing in future, we need to shift focus more on indie productions that are not plagued by consolisitis and assorted mainstream problems. If we keep on covering mainly high profile games we're bound to rant forever about the former glory of PC gaming. Personally I'd rather be part of the avantgarde than a has-been.

Brilliant article. I actually didn't finish it yet, because I'm a bit short on time at the moment and it wasn't really telling me anything I didn't already know ("preaching to the choir," you know). But it was brilliant in that it explained concepts better than I ever could have, and made me aware of things that I'd instinctively grasped but never intellectually defined. I'll be linking people to that article in the future, any time the subject of "consolization" comes up in a discussion elsewhere.

Man, you guys keep reading my mind! I was going to suggest that you do exactly what you did.

TTLG died because buglunch was banned. There I said it. I don't care if he was batshit insane... no wait that's why I liked him. One by one it was like TONE IT DOWN and eventually it got toned down to nothing. Oh well. With him and ?aranoid back this place'd be humming
(ps I don't contribute to the discussions more because I don't like any of you very much)

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, TTLG is still a gaming sight first and foremost. The Forums are secondary...

gaming sight?
