TTLG has been on its current server package for a number of years now (since ~2009) and it's no longer offering the best value for money. The site (and associated sub-sites) will be shuffling across onto a new package tomorrow (2nd Jan 2016) at around 5pm GMT.
Why are we moving? The move gives us much better value for money. We don't run ads and rely on donations (hint: (
http://www.ttlg.com/donate/)) to run the site. These have been very generous and are always welcome but our current funds will not last forever. The new package gives us more storage, more memory and allows us to host the site for much less.
What will I need to do?In theory, nothing. There will be some downtime tomorrow while the move completes but the main thing you'll notice is that the forums are offline for a while tomorrow. It's anticipated that the downtime will last about 2-3 hours, possibly less.
However! If you have added ttlg to your hosts file manually (e.g. to avoid the DNS issues we had a few years ago) you'll need to adjust the file for the new server IP otherwise you'll get the old server. If that happens then you'll need to follow the instructions in the next section.
How do I check / update my hosts file?On Windows:
* Open Notepad. On Vist and above you'll need to do this in administrator mode (right-click on the notepad application and choose "Run as administrator"
* Open the file %windir%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
* Lines beginning with "#" are comments and can be ignored. Look for a line similar to "74.208.213.90 www.ttlg.com"
* If the line isn't present - no action is needed. If it is present then I recommend adding a "#" to the start of the line - i.e. so it becomes "#74.208.213.90 www.ttlg.com"
* Alternatively (not recommended) you can change the IP to the new server - 74.208.193.9. Note that if you do this then you'll need to do this change again if / when TTLG moves server in future
* Save / close the hosts file
On Linux / Mac:
* Open an editor which has root permissions
* Open the hosts file (normally /etc/hosts)
* Do the checks / changes listed above for Windows
* Save / close the hosts file
If you have any additional questions / concerns then please post them in this thread.
Thanks and Happy 2016 to everyone here :D

If you're seeing this post then you're seeing the new server. Please report any glitches / strange behaviour or other oddities that may be present.

Also, posting a quick reply brings up an "are you sure you want to leave this page and lose data?" warning in Firefox.

Thanks - good catch. I'll take a look at that shortly (he is stored correctly in the database so it's a display error of some form).
Should be fixed now.

Can you try logging out and back in or clearing your browser cache? It's possible there is some stale data stored that is confusing your browser.

Logged out and back in again, that fixed it.
So: user error, replace user.

Glad it's sorted - it was quite possibly related to the way that the post system periodically saves your text to reduce the likelyhood of you losing a post. With the server change it probably thought you still had some unsaved data.
Beleg Cúthalion should now also be intact again.

Isn't he just! We all greatly appreciate Al. Don't know what we'd do without him.
