This idea popped into my head 8.3 seconds ago now. I'm not sure how to program google desktop apps, but if they're based on Javascript, I could figure it out. I'm wondering if I, or someone on here who's familiar with Javascript created a google desktop app for TTLG forums, would anyone use it besides me? I think it would be a great feature to have, especially for those who like to keep conversations going throughout the day as they do other things.
I'd imagine it to have features for saving current topics, or favorite topics, and recent topics that the user has posted in, to a 'quick jump' button that auto updates every few seconds so you always know when someone has replied. Also the obvious search feature button, and userCP buttons, as well as a large popup menu for when you're doing more than a quick reply.
I would definetely make something like this if I thought people would find it useful. What do you all think? Yay, nay?

What's wrong with just opening your browser and checking the forum? If people want insta-replies, isn't that what chatrooms are for?

Why can't you younguns just leave a good thing alone? Always always you have to change stuff around. Can an old man not have his peace any more?
Aye, must have dozed off... Anyway, the day you makin TTLG one of your fancy schmancy web2.0 myspace applications I'll shoot you in the nuts with an industrial strength bolter and then....and then...It's gonna hurt. I hate everyone. And change. Stop changing things.

I'm interested if it could be something I could integrate into our daughter sites.

Well I would definetely consider making it, let me do some research on Google Apps. Think of the sites you would like to integrate, and the features/ updates you would find useful for them. When I collect a little info, I'll let you know and maybe we can get something cool and useful made up.
@Yakoob, yes that's what chatrooms are for, but it's not so much for Insta-replies, but more for the people like me who like to turn their computer on and see all of their updates from the desktop.

I just downloaded the Google Desktop Gadget SDK and it's all based on HTML and JavaScript, so this should be a piece of cake! I'll mess around with it in the next few days, just come up with whatever ideas you think would be cool and I'll let you know what we can do.
