If I don't put in a new email address, which is marked optional, cannot change my password - I get a "please add email" message and the password remains unchanged.

Your email address should be auto-populated when you go to the (
https://www.ttlg.com/forums/profile.php?do=editpassword) Edit Email & Password page. There isn't a need to change that field if you don't want to - just leave it alone if you don't want to change your email address.

I've had to change PW probably 5 times in the past week.
I don't know why. The process is problematic.

I'm still having this issue.
Reset AGAIN today.
And again, despite emptying the email fields and not wanting to update my email I get the "Please complete the required field "Email"." message.

Why are you trying to empty the email field? If you do that then it thinks you are trying to change it to an empty string. The reason it says it's optional is because you don't need to touch it if it's already correct - not that you should remove the value.
