Oh for god's sake steak is the most tedious imaginable dish of a great big lump of monotonous bland stuff on your plate one can imagine. The only possibly good thing about steak is that it might have a sauce/flavourings on it - but why you don't put the source on something nice to begin with I don't know. It might do in the UK where we have the world's worst cuisine and least literate Fragonyesque populous but other countries should know better than to put a chewy slab of a dead animal on a plate with peas and processed potatoes/chips and think it makes you hip.
Why do you have to be so full of hate and lies?

You've obviously never had a really great steak.
That's like saying "You've obviously never had a really great bout of diarrhea," or "You've obviously never read a really great Tom Clancy book." You'd be right.

That's just plain ignorance speaking. Sounds to me that you're a culinary Danielle Steele type of gal.
You can say "I don't like steak" - fine, that's all well and good - but the tripe you're spewing is ridiculous hyperbole.

I can tell you Jay, I never had a great steak in Europe either. Come over to my house one weekend in the summer, and you'll see why steaks are so much better over here in the states. Europe really doesn't have cows grown specifically for consumption like we do here. There is simply not enough room for them. Mostly you guys get the old dairy cows when they're done producing milk. I hate Ruth's Chris style steaks though, I'm more of an au natural kinda guy. Grilled with seasoning and bbq sauce.

It's funny how blokes get really defensive when someone points out that the limited everything they think they knew about food was tosh.

Yeah, It's not like I've eaten many, many steaks in my life with people who waffle enthusiastically about searing and slicing and peppering and whatnot. Or that I don't come from a family of farmers and butchers or that I'm insanely fussy about sourcing my food to the extent that I grow and rear a large chunk of it myself and that restaurants won't do. I don't like steak. No extent of attempting to under-cook it, cut it sideways, hit it with a stick, make it smell of smoke or hide it behind spices and sauces can disguise the fact that it's a dish notable for being a dense and impenetrable (normally oversized) slab of large, heavy animal that is woefully monotonous in texture and flavour and would really be better used as filler in a stew. What can I say, I happen to not like awful food including prawn cocktail. IMHO.
bbq sauce. Oh that makes all the bloody difference. WTF. And no we don't just eat old dairy cows 'when we're done with them'. Good grief.

Just not true. So not true I can't even be bothered to frame an argument against it.
(Oh yes the mega stockyards and industrial, intensive rearing of cattle you guys invented gives real nice meat)

I've had plenty of good steaks in Europe, thank you very much. I've also had plenty of good steaks in the US, but I think possibly the best steak I've ever had was in a Japanese restaurant in Puerto Rico... Not that I can afford any steak these days :(

Germany has great bread.

Ha, that's fucking amazing that you compound your ignorance with such obvious hypocrisy. Best be aiming that back at yourself.
I mean, christ, I've eaten at many of the best restaurants in the country, I can make all 4 of the Mother Sauces of French cuisine from scratch. I've had great steaks, and great meals of all other sorts. The fact that I actually LIKE steaks help, but there's no way that my opinion is based on a "limited" world view with respect to food.
For all of your posturing, yes: You are ignorant about good steaks. Being matter of taste that you don't care for it, perhaps, but you quite obviously don't know what you're talking about. Your opinion is utter shit.
