Buy half pound salmon, an orange, and some fresh brussels sprouts.
1. Skin the salmon (or have the fishmonger skin it... even better). Rinse it and slice it into fillets if desired.
2. Marinade the salmon for a short while (maybe 20 minutes) in some kind of soy sauce or Teriyaki (add a tablespoon of sesame oil if you like, oil supposedly helps tenderize flesh in a marinade).
3. Preheat oven to 425 degrees F
4. While the fish is marinading, chop the ends of the brussels sprouts off and toss with olive oil and salt. Put a piece of tinfoil down on a baking sheet and spread the sprouts out over it
5. Slice the orange into slices and arrange them in a baking dish. Put the salmon on top. Put a small stripe of honey across the fillet(s) and spread it across the top with your finger.
6. Put all of this into the oven and let it cook for about 27 minutes, maybe 27 and a half. You can go 25 if you prefer it more tender. Shake the pan with the sprouts halfway through to get them to mill around a bit and blacken evenly. The sprouts will look burned on many parts when they are ready, and they will be hot as hell in the middle at first.
Awesome healthy meal that tastes great and is ultra easy provided you know how to cut an orange. If you want a little more, then maybe pick up a carb like a nice piece of bread or maybe some green beans or a salad (field greens + walnuts + good bleu cheese + chopped green onions + half red/yellow bell pepper + syrup-thick high quality balsamic vinegar is a score).
I didn't even like brussels sprouts prior to cooking them like this, and now I love them. They taste akin to popcorn on the outside and are sweet and soft in the middle.

Another great and healthy snack:
Buy avocado, bananas, and milk. Mix the above in a blender for a smoothie. It is seriously 100% yummy and has tons of great vitamins, etc... avocado is one of the more nutritious foods you can eat. The bananas are the sweetener so adjust it to how you like... maybe start with one banana to one avocado and then adjust by half bananas (i.e. 1.5 bananas to one avocado). I'm not talking about the gigantor mutant avocados you can find at some markets. Just a plain old small avocado.

Had to google that. It's just a brand, folks, not a fetish.
Countering your reputation as a culinary poisoner might take time. Work on perfecting a party dish, then start attending pot-lucks. People might not be willing to risk an evening at your place, facing a groaning board of (possibly) inedible delights but they might try a spoonful of your creation if tasty chasers are handy.
To really throw them a curve, repackage your dish in a commercial container and pretend you picked it up at the deli on your way. An accompanying bag of taco chips (regardless of the dish) will complete your disguise as the Anti-chef.

I finally got around to using that BBC site, and it actually seems pretty good. I've already found a few recipes I plan on using, once I can make a grocery run later.
I also have a question of my own to ask. Does anyone know a good recipe for a portobello burger?

Sure. Buy Portobello mushrooms. Clean 'em. Put 'em on a baking tray. Season them with ground cumin, salt and pepper. Sprinkle a little olive oil on them. Bake 'em for 15 minutes at 180°C (350°F). Use instead of burgers in burgers (best thing - spread cottage cheese on the buns and put in some tomatoes and pepper).

Tried something similiar before, but the problem I have with portobello is preventing them from drying out in an electric oven.
I definitely like the cottage cheese tip though, I'll try that out sometime.

Okay. Enough of this sandwich/burger shit. Let's get cookin'.
Buy: 1 pound of ground meat (half beef, half pork). 1 bag of dried breadcrumbs. 1 glass of mustard. Some eggs. 3 potatoes. A box of milk. Some butter. Unless you got any, a potato peeler, a baking tray, some salt and pepper. Extra butter, lard or 10-12 pieces of streaky bacon.
Put the ground meat, 1 egg, a handful of breadcrumbs and 2 tsps of mustard inna bowl. Season it with a pinch of salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly. Use your hands. Knead that shit. It's your future lunch, there's no dicking around with bread and salad and whatever.
Okay. You've got a nice ball of spiced meat. Turn the oven to 180°C. Form the meat into a small loaf, put it into the tray and grease it generously. Best thing - wrap it into pieces of streaky bacon, it adds flavour and prevents it from drying.
Load it in the oven. Bake it for 1/2 hour.
Meanwhile, wash and peel 3 potatoes. Put 'em inna pot, salt 'em and put some ground cumin innit for flavour. Boil for 15-20 mins. (or until soft and edible - I guess you can recognize boiled taters from raw ones). You wanna get fancy - use a fork and mash the p'ta'toes with a glass of milk and a knob of butter to make a decent potato mash.
Take the meat (meatloaf now, really) out. Let it breathe for a minute. Slice it. Eat w/ taters, mustard and pickles (optional). Congrats - you've got yerself a dinner!
Dammit it's bloody hard putting together a decent recipe when you're drunk like a skunk.

That's where the oil comes in.
