Who's worried? And what is the point of your post? I've seen some dead thief sites and this is not one of them.

Well then, with so many new voices and faces coming in, there's no reason for TTLG to worry for its present or future then, is there?
Even with your deathless insight into TTLG's situation, you could have read this thread and found out we're talking about what to do with the ttlg.com homepage now that there's no Looking Glass news to put on it anymore.

TTLG dead as anything other than forums?
Thread title says it all. And the forums could be resumed as the musings and posts of twenty to thirty people at most - mainly moderators and associates. A tight-knit and closed minded circle, that's how I would best describe what it has become.

Er, TTLG isn't worried about its future. It's the front portal page that is the issue.

Then change the thread title. It's misleading.

Perhaps if you weren't too tired and indifferent to read all the posts, the big bad thread title wouldn't be so confusing. :(

I don't really follow gaming news these days, either, so having some interesting upcoming titles hand-picked and mentioned on the front-page would surely be a welcome thing. And since Bioshock is the Next Big Thing, I think a lot of the news surfacing in the Bioshock forum could be mentioned in the front page as well.
I do love the idea about a coherent TTLG cook book linked to the front page along with all the other wacky ideas presented. Member-written reviews on stuff would be nice as well (books, hunting bows, travel destinations). Those reviews could then be linked to the threads, where the said text is torn asunder.
I still pass through the front page every time I visit the site.

If they change the thread title, you should reciprocate by changing your username to
failure2comprehend.

It's not as if the thread title read "TTLG Dead?"
And I don't understand the sorta deathwatch tone of that post. TTLG's just changing with age.

Instead of trying to keep TTLG alive, I'd rather just accept that TTLG had its time and like a dinosaur, it too is slowly phasing out.
At the core, these people at TTLG are keeping the spirit alive of a game company long past that brought some of the finest gaming to grace computer screens. This website has a decent and somewhat pedigreed history. As long as people like Levine are still out there making games that are clearly a form of pure evolution of the true Thief series, TTLG could be fine. The real problem is how to keep the same closeknit personable Moderation if the membership swells. Maybe those twenty people you are talking about may be your Moderators one day.
