With the sad news that Turtle has passed away, I'm reminded of the fact of mortality once more.
I don't know what happened to Turtle, but one thing that one can do to improve one's chances in the long run is to exercise and maintain a healthy weight.
I've struggled during the Summer to do as much as I wanted. My cycling was often difficult and I haven't lifted a weight since March I think. I've also put on about 5 kg of useless weight (=fat and not muscle) and feel far weaker.
This week I'm going to start with some bodyweight exercises, try and get a program going and a do it on the regular. Come on TTLG, let's get on it! It's the least we can do in this carcrash of a year.

Well, quite. I realised in April, that without a daily walk to/from the station for my commute (damn you Covid-19), and with me also being over 40 now, I needed to do some exercise.
So I took up running again. Bought a new Garmin, head torch, decent pair of trainers. Recently got up to 10km, but a small tumble last week because I wasn't watching where I was putting my feet - so annoyingly need to rest a pulled muscle. My watch now tells me I have the fitness in the top 10% of 20 years olds, although I'm dubious about this statistic. My advice: find what you like to do as exercise. If you don't enjoy it you won't keep it up. (Rowing can fuck right off, by the way).

I'll admit, if I had my own headlamp for my head, I'd probably jog more.

Running/walking while the sun's up works too.

Good job Ulukai. I agree with you on doing stuff you like. I hate running. Haaaaaate it. I love cycling though. In forests, to the Doom Eternal soundtrack (despite never having played it) amongst others.
I've a water rower (yes, like in House of Cards) and I really, really should use it more often.
