Shouting,
ad hominems and trying to brow-beat other people into holding your opinion is counter-productive and ultimately destroys the point of having a book club in the first place.
Choose from one of the following:
Random question:
Would interactive fiction be included in 'what the book club can do', or what that be for a seperate IF club? I imagine that could be a fair bit of fun too:)

As much fun as By Balloon to the Sahara was I'm afraid Choose Your Own Adventure books belong firmly in my pre-adolescent past.

Life of Pi: acquired.
Irony: it mentions sloths in the first page.
Also, I picked up The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood, because why not if I'm on this kind of new reading venture.
Lastly, you enter the room, rounding a corner only to find the drooling guard dog barring your way out of the compound, as the door lock clicks in place behind you, you realise you are trapped. It is now only a matter of time before you are eaten or arrested.
Turn to page 1 to start again.

I read 58.43 pages an hour according to a timed test, and even then, I don't take half the shit I read in. I hope for your sake you make the most of that ridiculous speed
My mum's a librarian, I read thousands of books as a kid; practice makes perfect and all that. Unfortunately these days I don't read nearly as many due to time constraints and laziness (reading books versus playing games :erg:). Harry Potter novels, Iain M. Banks and Pratchett are the only ones that can make finish a book in 1-2 sittings these days.

When all's said and done regarding the messages she made in her books, they are all
delightfully witty and subtle and concise and caustic all at once, that's it. They are simply that.

While I realize you may be joking, I can't tell, so I'll clarify: by IF I meant things like Spider and Web, or I-0, or Blue Chairs - the things that grew out of the Infocom text adventures. Not Choose Your Own Adventure⢠books (though a book club discussion of one WOULD be funny).
