Some notes and questions on yesterday's game and the mission we tested:
* Neb, I've added some smoke grenades to the playable units' equipment, which should help with the fights in Chernogorsk. I need to get used to using smoke grenades myself; it's a habit I've never developed, since there were usually others who knew when and how best to use them.
* I've also delayed the possible attack on the airfield so it doesn't happen while people are still getting their bearings. Might work better that way.
* Would it perhaps make sense to have the relevant radio messages (attack on base, APC firing on us etc.) displayed differently? They're not exactly all that visible at the bottom of the screen.
* The way I've currently set it up, the game auto-detects the APCs once they fire on the players, and it adds location markers. Would it be more fun/interesting to have the players have to look out for where the fire's coming from and mark it on the map? I might link the auto-locate to the difficulty level (if I can find out what exactly cadetMode entails).
* Still not sure why that corpsman didn't want to follow orders to board the Littlebird, or why the dragging option didn't turn up with wounded units. The modules are there and active, from what I can see.
* *Henke, what are the helicopter controls you're currently using? If I remember correctly, the default ones are okay but they require some tweaking. I've found that using left/right turn on the mouse works pretty well and having roll/yaw on the keys, but there are some people who hate left/right turn, since it's a kind of hybrid control. In any case, I've put together a multiplayer mission that's a variation of the SP training mission I sent you; if you like, we can play that one some time, so you (and any of the others who are interested) can practice while having a bit of fun.
Anyway, looking forward to playing the mission (and others) with some more people!

I thought the attack on the airfield came at the perfect time, after we'd gotten our bearings, but before we'd driven all the way into the city.
And I'm using the default heli controls, which awkwardly has you moving the mouse forward to pull up. Need to figure out how to change it before our next session.
Anyway, I thought the mission you'd made was great. :)

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. I'm also pretty happy with how it's turned out, though it does need some tweaking.
You should be able to go to the controls menu, aircraft submenu, and change Nose Up/Nose Down around quite easily; mouse movements are shown in a column at the right of the column that shows the control settings. That already should make a huge difference.

man I would love to join you guys in some Arma2, but Australia vs Europe pingwise would be horrendous
Thirith on 21/8/2016 at 14:11
Why not give it a try some time, PigLick, if you're okay with the time difference? Seeing how old Arma 2 is by now, added to which it's always accommodated relatively well for high pings (as far as I know), perhaps the pings you'd get at present wouldn't actually be all that bad.

so what time would it be for me, if you guys are playing round 4-6pm?
Thirith on 21/8/2016 at 14:54
Is Australia all on one time zone? If I checked correctly, 4-6pm UK time is 1am Canberra time, which is of course not exactly ideal, unless you're a night owl...

Im on the west coast so that would make it around 11pm which is possible.

Most likely we'll have our next Arma session on 3 September (next Saturday it's
GTA's turn), if you'd want to give it a try; you'll find the details here: (

Edit: Are you on Steam, and if so, what's your handle?
