Cool. Who joined in? (I guess MrKev did because he added me on Steam and joined the group.)
I don't mind who we play with. It's your gig and your connection (and all of the Folk ARPS people are cool). I would take up your offer of anyone hosting, but my connection is ok up to a point and then it chokes. I don't think it would be a good idea, but I've always considered renting a server if I'm ever flush with cash. :p

MrKev, Lord Penney and Zitron. Great fun, although the second mission wasn't scripted particularly well, so we weren't sure whether we hadn't found the cache or whether Arma just didn't realise that we had. Lord Penney also said that he might join the group. I've told them all that if they were to join, they should check out the CWR2 mod, since I really enjoy the maps and coop mission design.
How well does me hosting work at the other end, by the way? It's always seemed pretty smooth for me, but I hope it's also reasonably okay for the other players.

Just saying that it'll be a bit random whether I join or not in the future, the reason being that I'm not really into milsims and/or tactical shooters these days. I was back then, but I kind of lost interest in the last few years. This is the reason I didn't get A3 too. I tried the coop because, well, coop makes everything better (and it was indeed fun), but right now A2 is still a game I'm not really into. I haven't even played it outside of these sessions. Just a heads up.
Though, while we're at it, I was wondering - in the video Neb posted, he uses suppressive fire. It never even occured to me to do that. I asked if he saw the machinegunner or only the tracers because I thought he was shooting at an actual target, but the video showed that he was just firing in their general direction. Does suppressive fire even work in this game?

It was fun having you Malleus. You're welcome to join in again any time. :D
Suppressive fire doesn't work nearly as well against AI as it does when playing against real people. I was mostly trying to get a lucky shot and also distract it as Thirith crossed the road. I think it was actually an MG mounted on a UAZ, and the AI drivers won't use cover AFAIK.

I suspect it would take an annoying amount of processor power just to have the AI's determine that someone was firing in their general direction.

Since some of you were talking about programming games earlier: one of the 'games' I've enjoyed most recently is the
Arma 2 editor. I'm trying to put together a mission to play (
http://ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=2327118) with some of the TTLG folks, and the scripting's reminding me of what I used to enjoy about programming, whether Basic and Assembler back on the C-64 or even some VBA for
Excel and SQL for
Access. The good thing about only getting into mission making for
Arma 2 now is that practically all the problems I might run into have already been encountered and solved by those who started making
Arma missions ten years ago...

Thirith, if you need any help with SQF, let me know. Everyone comes across the dreaded topic of locality eventually.
Thirith on 11/8/2016 at 18:56
I'll gladly come back to that, Neb. I'm using the F2 framework, which helps a lot, but I am fully expecting the first MP session with one of my missions to be a bit of a surreal shitshow. A *fun* surreal shitshow, I hope, mind you. (You wouldn't happen to have a copy of the Folk ARPS A2 mission repository?)

Brilliant, thanks! I'll download those ASAP and will check them out. Once we've played a mission of mine, I might also get back to you with some scripting questions.
Have you played any of the Apex expansion in coop yet?
