TTLG and I - Then and Now. - by Mr.Duck

What can I say, Duckie? This place was the first online community I was ever a part of. I didn't know what a message board was when I registered, and I'd come a long way since then.
Memories? Oh....
I remember the first time I ever posted, my first reply was from Cadfael, and you can just imagine a 16 year-old getting his response to a question of how to get out of a tough spot in The Lost City by someone who only talks in anachronistic pastoral epic prose.
I remember the weird scenarios we created together for no reason and then acted out, everything from an actual war scene between the forum members to 25 thieves breaking into a house separately.
I remember SailorEagle drawing what our skin would look like after she gutted and skinned us to make clothing after we poked fun at her name.
I remember turning Garrett's origin story into a novel, and the excited requests for updates, and how I'd never felt so approved-of or accomplished as a young teenager.
I remember being hit on by such gorgeous women as MsLedd, Strangeblue, and MrDuck...?, and how the next day one of them would say, "Hang on, 17?! Darlin', I have underwear older than you!"
I remember listening avec plaisir to Wynne sing, and wanting to hear a whole lot more.
I remember Paz being as cute as humanly possible as he asked Starry to marry him, and how it started a hundred holding-sign posts imploring her to say yes or to jump in with a counter-offer.
I remember someone... damnation but who... turning SailorEagle's face into a new enemy in Thief, equipped with giant mallet and a creepy smile, while simultaneously writing a will in anticipation of the consequences.
I remember thinking of you all as friends.

Life tends to be funny in an ironic sort of way.
:)
Nice song, Blackman, cheers!
Thanks MrDuck. Due to the nature of the thread, I thought you might get a kick out of my little tune.

Crion - 'sup bro?, come down and tell us your TTLG story, man. Share a memory or two :)
Kolya - But you can make it itch real hard! :D
Vas - Tell Catalyst to get his silly ass over here and share his story (pretty please?) :)
Keepe Mallinson - I remember asking you for updates on your fanfic, so where are they?, HUH!?, HUH!? ;)
I remember a lot of things too....some embarassing, some funny, some great, some sad, some plain wrong....oh the memories...
Blackman - Always, man, always. Cheers and thanks for sharing, keep on doing so :)
Huzzah!
Also, I wish MsLedd and Strangeblue hit on me...I was 19...*sniffles*..:(

One of the sad things about TTLG is that I'll never be a true vet. A lot of the old folks have left, but plenty have stayed, and the new member growth rate - at least in Commchat - is slow enough that my 2002 reg date wouldn't earn me much cred even if it was legit. I drifted away quickly after joining in 2002, and didn't really become active till 2004. To a 22-year-old, that's a long time, and far longer than any of my stays at previous forums.
I always appreciate the positivity and quirk that Mr. Duck brings to the forum. Could do with more of that and less "superior taste in games" pissing fests, if you ask me. Which no one did. Nor should they.
So yeah, I still love this place, even as I sometimes worry about its future.

He was gonna post in this thread, but couldn't remember his password. He might show up in #thief someday again though, so haul your ass there ;)
(In fact, last night it was almost like the good old wild days in #thief :joke: )

Aero - I live to amuse, me old cock. Don't fear for TTLG's future as long as Digi, Saam and the rest of the admins don't go totalitarian on our asses or the server goes kaput for real or somesuch. Too many of the old crowd have oleft, yes, but many have stayed, so still lots of love to spread around. And heck, many of the newbies are actually decent folk, so don't fret my pet. :)
Vas - ffs....wish you'd contact me over PM about #thief going wild....and, Catalyst....fs....:D

But if the server goes kaput then we get the Temporary Forum back.

If only I didn't smoke 'em all away...
I know I came here through SS2. My friend had raved about the demo and got me to try it. Tried it, loved it, mucked around with ShockEd some, hung out in #thief, met up with Zantie, dude from England, and Strangeblue in Seattle, then... tsk. I just disappeared and wound up back here looking for widescreen patches. Lurked around for a bit and dipped back in within the last week.

Matt - Matteh! :D
Crion - Good ol'SS 2, eh?, thank God for such games....so, you met Amber and others, eh?, nice, nice. Before the TTLG Meets people had been meeting in pairs and trios (OH SEX JOKE ALERT!!!) :)
Good to have you back, though.
