You cannot die from not sleeping, you certainly will fall asleep at some point, and thats far from death.
Well...you
can. Or at least, all animal models studied to test this theory have eventually resulted in death. Granted they all used active methods to ensure the animals
couldn't sleep (like constantly disturbing them), which is not a problem you're likely to have, but it's still not a recommended thing to do on your own.
Hallucinations, disorientation, and of course extreme clumsiness...all add up to potential badness for you if you try to do anything involving sharp/hot items. So don't do any cooking. ;)
On the bright side, studies also seem to indicate that no long-term side effects result from a single episode of acute sleep deprivation (chronic sleep deprivation is another matter), and you don't even accrue equivalent sleep debt: 12 hours sleep is usually enough to recover from 6 days of non-sleep.

What I also wanted to ask, are there any serious health risks?
I asked my good friend and mentor, Doctor Flange.
You're exposing yourself to many risks including diabetic hyperchumps, interior postucrombosis, inverted flavonoids and death.
I'd go to bed, if I were you :(

I tried a similar thing a few years back for a bet. I recall playing Hexen all night and the following day I could constantly hear the repeated low quality sound effect of ettins attacking. It made for some interesting conversations, with me frequently looking around to try and figure out what it was and where it was coming from, before realising it was all in my head. Sadly I lost the bet, having run out of ways to occupy myself, I ended up falling asleep while reading a book. But then, I didn't have the already suggested amphetamines to help, which I'm sure could keep you up till at least the end of the week, if you don't mind a presumably horrible comedown afterwards.

Well unfortunately I had to go to bed because my mother got sick yesterday, I have to look after her so no experiment now. :(
I'll try again as soon as I can - hopefully next week till my holidays are over and I have to go back to work.
Just four hours of sleep and I pretty fit again, after almost 4 days without sleep, I didnt expect that. But I can tell you, 4 days none-stop awake isnt a pice of cake! Maybe I can do a fifth or even a sixth day, but beyond that, I dont know...

interior postucrombosis
Whats that? I understood everything else except ''postucrombosis'', does not sound pretty.

Ha, I know that feeling. Once I played F.E.A.R two years ago one day and one night none-stop (ok, toilet only) and next day at work my brain constantly flashed in-game scenes -like shooting soldiers head off- into my mind. It was like a very long extremely intense daydream, sometimes I couldnt tell if I am still playing the game. Disturbing!
