They were like Choose Your Own Adventures for D&D freaks. If I remember correctly, you could pick either warrior or wizard and then pick some weapons to take with you. In my particular novel you would go out on your quest, to some mountain I think, and make your way back to castle eventually. You would get into fights and you'd have to turn to certain pages for different weapons and what have you, and the success rate for adventures was pretty low. It was pretty ambitious and I remember liking the crap out of it. Anyone else remeber these?

I played several gamebooks by Ian Livingston during my last holidays. One of them was called "City of Thieves". Great fun.
Gamebooks from the LoneWolf series and several others can be read/downloaded (

There was an actual D&D-branded line of books similar to the Fighting Fantasy ones, but I got rid of the only one I had years ago so I can't remember much about them. It came with a bookmark that doubled as a character sheet. I remember the FF books being quite fun when I was a kid. I had ten or so, but I got rid of them the last time I needed to clear space for new books.

I guess I'm a nerd - I actually collected the Choose Your Own Adventure books. I read Encyclopedia Brown and Judy Blume too.
What?

Even worse, I collected the Marvel Comics versions of those choose your own adventure things. Plus various proto-geek ones like The Mystery Squad.
