Yeah, EA own the publishing rights.
I think...

They do. I'm confused because I thought Eidos would have owned the rights to it since they backed the thief series.

i spent all my christmas money on a $70 copy from amazon because i didn't want the EA classics version. smart buy or not?

Well, you basically patched up a free and clear pre-patched version. You'll have to patch the game yourself, and might have a bit of trouble playing FMs further down the road . . .
But the game's worth all the money you paid for it, even if you have to fiddle with it a little more. :thumb:

While i would love to own an origional copy of it, i haven't got to money for it. That and i don't have the patience to bid on eBay for it.

haha, It's odd and nice to see Australia getting some attention in the gaming world. :laff:
About 3 years ago here in Sydney you could get it for a smooth AU$10
I picked up a copy, after it got stolen I had to get one off ebay, which is quite simple really. Only paid $10 including shipping for that one too,
Albeit these are the crappy reissue's in the DVD case.
And that link for $150 is actually a promotional big box with the game in it too.
I think, either suck it up and just buy it, or go without.
I've had to order Wing Commander games for insane prices from the US,
In Australia, usually we don't get shit, for the first time we have it, now everyone from the US is complaining because they have to order something overseas? hahahhaa.
Here in Aus we have to do it for just about anything good.

I don't understand that statement. What do you mean? Is there something wrong with the game being sold by Games Warehouse?

The original version was sold in a nice big box, rather than the more modern DVD-style case that most games come packaged in now. I'm presuming that this is not the case with the Games Warehouse version.
