Nah, the brits have got it beat!
Kevin Warrick, a university lecturer, created an implant that allowed him to operate a robotic hand! (to a very basic degree)
He also managed to give himself "bat" like senses by tying it to a sonar array!
Not only can this implant detect nerve signals and translate them, it works the other way round, stimulating nerve cells to allowing 2 way communication!

WTF is that protruding from its head? A MOuSeFET ? :D
Ken, take note....you have comptetion.

Kevin Warwick is an idiot. Makes people who do the real science look bad.
cosmicnut on 8/3/2007 at 09:04
So the testing of an implant that could mean the creation of artifical limbs that respond to thought patterns is not real science....
Yes, it's probably over dramatic. However, to do REAL science, you need money!
Experiments like this bring the subject to the publics attention as well as showing the people that matter, that the science is viable.

That rat is teh funnie.

Poor rat. What is that device hooked to him do? That doesnt seem logically resonable. I cant imagine the rat utalizing augmentations properly.
Kolya on 8/3/2007 at 17:29
You mean to throw objects at it's tantalizers by sheer will force?
Seriously the augmentation is most likely there to utilize the mouse not vice versa.
