Troubles with Thief 2 on windows 8.1, extreme slowdown

I just got a new PC, it's an i5 4670k, gtx 770, 8 gb ram, running windows 8.1

got a copy of Thief 2 from GoG, installs the game fine but the problem comes when i run it. It runs way too slow! I had the same issue with Deus Ex 1 while running in direct 3d mode, i had to use the third party mod to use Deus Ex 1 in openGL mode which fixed the framerate.

Is there some way to get Thief 2 to run in open GL or to fix the slowdown in general?

The weird thing is that Thief 1 Gold runs perfectly fine with all the mods installed.

try to patch up with (http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=131106) TafferPatcher, and see whether it makes things better or worse.

I've tried with and without the taffer patcher and it still looks like it's running 24 fps or something. Could this be some sort of vsync issue? It's not exactly having slowdowns, just consistently runnign at a low framerate. Deus Ex 1 was doing the same thing till i switched from D3D to openGL

Also, the game is extremely dark even with the gamma cranked to max, almost pitch dark in the first level.

Ok wow, I am retarded. I was using a super old tafferpatcher, version 103. Not even sure why i had one that old. Anyways, used the newest one and it's running flawlessly. Thanks.
