So, I played System Shock 2 a few years ago back on my Windows XP computer. To my surprise, I still have the disc. But since then I updated my computer to windows 7 and since that faithful day I tried reinstalling it I've had a million problems with it.
Firstly I downloaded SSTool and installed the game according to the instructions. Joy filled my heart as the Irrational Logo filled the screen, I started a new game but once the cutscene was over, black screen. Now in a panic, I restarted the game, pink screen
But after multiple reinstalls I finally did get it working, no cutscenes but I can live without those. It did work for a few hours but then after a frustrating experience I tried to change the controls a bit, but then after changing them, I had a new problem, whenever I went into the inventory, if I left clicked, it would use my weapon, which meant I couldn't click anything in my inventory, all left clicking would do is fire my weapon.
After it kept happening I decided it was time to reinstall the game again, which leads to my current predicament.
I uninstalled the game, then grabbed the disc to reinstall, I got to the menu, pressed install, the 'are you sure?' menu comes up. I press yes, the circle beside my cursor starts rotating. Then it stops. Nothing happens.
Has anyone experienced this before? Honestly I'm just stuck, I have no idea what to do.:p

no need to install/uninstall the game, just copy the "shock" folder from the cd to your hdd as (
http://www.systemshock.org/index.php/topic,106.0.html) suggested in the FAQ (you can simply delete the folder if you want to remove the game).run ss2tool,do not change any options, point it to the "shock" folder (make sure you do NOT place the shock folder to program files or some similar protected folder),and let it perform all the modifications.
run the game, and it should work.if not,try updating your graphics card drivers (what kind of graphics card do you have, btw?).if that still won't cut it,we will try something else.
that thing with broken controls is a (
