Trouble with enchanting. - by Narok Kurai

I'm trying to make an item with a constant effect of 100% Chameleon (and yes, I do have the skill level) But no matter what item I use (Exstravagant, and Exquisite amulets, and the Daedric Katana) or what Soul Stone I use (Grand Soul Stone with Golden Saint) It says "You cannot add more enchantment to an item than it can hold." I've never experienced this before. Is it my item's fault, or my Soul Stone's fault. Or is it both. Is 100% Chameleon as a constant effect even possible? :weird:

The short answer is: No
The best item to enchant is a Daedric Towershield. But these aren't exactly common. Anyway. Each item has an enchantment value. Each spell you are using to enchant an item with takes these up. So if an item has 100 enchantment points, you can make the enchantment only as powerful as those 100 points will allow.
Another short answer is: Look at the values above the spells being added. It clearly states how many points your using, as well as the price, type of soul gem, etc.
For 100% you'll need a full set of exquisite clothes, and probably some more.

Sigh, thank you. I guess i'll never be the ultimate master theif. But at least I can try to get 70 80% chameleon with that tower shield (Belive me, I will find that shield.) :thumb:

Try invisiblity. It´s actualy cheaper than 100% chameleon.

Invisibility is pretty worthless when you're doing anything but moving around since it dispels whenever you attack, open a door, etc. Chameleon is much better in that it is in effect for as long as the spell/enchantment lasts, or a CE deal. Still, you don't really need 100% chameleon. Just 40% or so makes you invisible to NPCs (from what I remember, that is). Amulet of Shadows is a good choice for a chameleon item, as it has an 80% strength that lasts for 60 seconds - plenty of time for most situations.

Well, I found the tower shield (I lost it in my inventory) And was able to get 50% both ways but I'm still getting seen. I figure though, if I can get an exquisite amulet, an exquisite ring, and an exquisite whatever, I can get them to stack up. Is stacking up stuff like chameleon possible?

That should work(I've only done that with abilities and they stacked up), so I can't promise you anything

I did it! I finally got 100% Chameleon! I used that tower shield for 50%, An Exquisite Amulet for 25%, And an exquisite robe and shoes for the last few. I was wondering though, who is this Alexamia (not sure if I spelled that right) that everyone talks about. I hear he or she has a pretty big soul.

She's a demi-goddess you meet in the Tribunal expansion.
Frankly, her soul's so big that it's wasted on any enchantment, but anyway. It's worth about 1000000 gold that you can never possibly sell. And it takes up Azura's Star. All in all it probably isn't such a good thing when one puts it that way.
