Does this mean that playing Thief really does turn you into a voyeur??!? Is it time to start a campaign to ban this filth?
In all seriousness, this quote from the cgarena interview does kind of back up the claim that this was done for the purposes of studying anatomy: "Most of us haven’t got access to live human models. So the best thing you can do is get a DV camera and film yourself." Too bad he took that a step too far.

oh, I think we can fairly assume that it was for the purposes of his art, however it's still morally and legally wrong to film people in their homes without their knowledge.
And he says most don't have access to live human models - no family, friends be willing to help you out???

Holy shit.
Knowing what I know of Oddity, and his near complete lack of social mores and general disconnect with people, I can pretty well safely guess his intentions were innocent. He probably did it for his art. For the sake of capturing the posturing and stances of the human animal unaware.
Doesn't excuse the fact that it was a completely and totally balls to the wall fucking stupid thing to do.
Regardless of intent, and his standing as prime example of an emotionally stunted Aspergers child, he's intelligent enough to at least be able to fathom why setting up an elaborate hidden camera system to spy on the MILF next door and her underage daughter was anything but a good idea. My God.

Well sure, it may seem obvious to us that this was intended for his art, but the judge called this defence 'laughable', and given Oddity's notoriously abrasive personality I doubt anyone would be coming forward to strengthen this defence. Of course what he did was morally and legally wrong, but the distinction in why he did it could be the difference between a short sentence and a very long sentence indeed.

Did you interact with him much. Doh, course you did Modfather. Anyways, I agree with Renz on his assessment of Oddity's character - he was... disconnected.
One hell of a graphics artist though, no doubt about that.

That reminds me of the time a friend called me (about 2 years ago) to ask if I'd pose in the nude for a group of 5-6 painters. Tonight and for money. She had picked the job but couldn't make it in time.
I didn't do it because I thought it may be really awkward, depending on the people and setting, and it could be difficult to leave then. In retrospect I possibly passed on the easiest money ever because I didn't have the guts.
Would you do it?

He was obsessed with detail, so I believe he did it for the art, but still in a fetish sort of way. I've read that for some people the careful attention to detail and the art is the fetish itself, there isn't a clear line. It's like Dali hiding in the closet to peek on his wife or other people having sex or just changing clothes; it's inseparable from his creative inspiration.
But anyway, FFS there are billions of images and videos online, but I guess that's lacking the live element. He should have gone surfing for models on Omegle or DeviantArt or something. If people saw his work I think he'd get lots of response. Some types of personality are just as obsessed to be seen and pose as the artists are to draw them.

Edit: I had a gf that posed nude for art students at an art school in NYC (Parsons IIRC). She had a distinctive look, so I thought it was probably good for them (the students), and if anything I felt a little proud. I wouldn't have minded doing it myself, but I don't think I have very good body-awareness to pose well (I always got knocked for that when I was doing theatre), and don't feel I have anything very distinctive to offer in the way I look. But in New York, it's the kind of thing people are drawn to, since you want to feel part of the scene in a city with a reputation for being as important to the art world as it is.
Edit2: That judge is finding things "quite startling" that aren't particularly hard to believe at all.
I won't defend oDD, though; not cool to do things like this without consent.
Edit3.

Glad to see this guy pulled out of the fold. Using his art as an excuse is just what we need to prove no remorse. See ya Oddity. Signed, All the 3d artists whom you have beaten down repeatedly, pretending you were something you so obviously are not.
Is this really Oddity commenting about himself?
Maybe he's making the point that jealous 3D artists are trying to do anything to pull him down? Persecution complex?

I'm not exactly Adonis (to say the least) and I've got body image issues to boot. I wouldn't do it unless it was a really hefty sum and I was allowed to punch anyone who looked at me funny.
So, no, I probably wouldn't do it.

I'd do it, as long as I got a sandwich afterwards.
