Hi,
Is there a way to initiate a quest using the console?
I'm playing the Sword of Perithia mod which is riddled with bugs and have run into a serious problem. In short, an NPC is not dispensing a quest properly.
I've been into the data files using the construction set and discovered the name of the script (I_Paine_duties) and found a useful sounding console command "player->startscript" but cannot seem to get the script triggered.
An error message is generated:
Script syswindow CompileAndRun script I_Paine_duties was not found on line 1. Compiled script not saved!
Any sage advice on this will be greatly appreciated :)
thanks,
grokuk

I've just started that mod a few days ago too, though I haven't really done much of the main quest. I did find the Hall of Thunder Giants and got ten kinds of snot beaten out of me ^.^ (It still didn't stop me from stealing a hammer or two, and a giant book.)
I've noticed SOP is filled with bugs too. Someone should go in and clean it up... a lot of those objects that aren't completely in the ground get on my nerves... But which quest is it you're talking about?
When you say Sage, do you mean the Paladins (who teach your Arcane spells; btw, I can't get them to teach me the spells!)? All of them are located in these places:
Arnold
You can find Arnold in the Izmir chapter of the Rashman Adventurer’s Guild. He’s up at the top of the tower, mixing up potions. He’ll teach you the arcane spell Arcane Forest Hands.
Chris
Find Chris wasting away in one of the locked shacks on the water in Smuggler’s Cove. You can learn Arcane Fire Shield from Chris.
Holly
Holly is the healer in the tavern in Eastwick. Learn Arcane Unlock from her.
Jackson
Found in the Izmir Shipping and Excise Warehouse in the Shipping District. Learn Arcane Flame Bolt from Jackson.
Melissa
Found farming just north of Cross Town. Melissa will teach you Arcane Healing.
Michael
At the top of the guard tower in Telaveve is a guard named Michael. He will teach you Arcane Dispel.
Moramere
Moramere isn’t actually a paladin, but he is a Forest Lord that will teach you an Arcane Sanctuary spell. He can be found in the tower where Hyabolis is found in the Forest of Illusions. (Refer to the Main Quest Walk Through for info on how to reach Hyabolis.)
Myra
Found working the bar in the Lusty Lady in Telaveve. Myra will lead you to an arcane tome that will teach you Arcane Poison Arrow.
Sammy
Found in the Moon Shire diamond mine. Sammy teaches Arcane Poison Fingers.
Sorcha
Found at the base of the Tower of Mantus, Sorcha will teach you Arcane Frost Bolt just before she passes away.
WARNING: Contains spoilers for the Sword of Perithia mod!!!!!

Hi,
Yeah, considering the amount of work which has gone into it so far it's a real shame that the guy who created it has given up on developing, or else just gone on an extended search for a spell checker :)
The paladins, will teach you the Arcane powers but I'm not sure if it's level or disposition that's required. Like most NPC they seem to actively dislike you at first!
I'm a way on in the main quest, working for Colonel Sanders and have been sent to Major Paine (oh the irony!) for further orders after the Wolf Wing quest. The manual/guide is quite clear on what should happen next, but it's clearly not working right....
I'd love this mod to work right. But if anyone knows of a way to simply trigger a quest manually, it might save the day here?
cheers,
grokuk

Ugh... I ran into a problem too. The mysterious man who meets you at Deception Path (id: TP_Oldman, name is ?) is supposed to ask me questions when I get closer. The problem is, he didn't. That means I can't get any further in the mainquest. I already went up to Nemiclez (sp?) but he doesn't say anything at all to me, let alone give me the... thing that he has to give me.
I did find out that I'm running two patches, 1.33 and 1.34 I think. I'm going to start a new game just with the 1.34 patch and see if it helps...

That's a good idea on the patches - I'm running them both as well and will try dropping one.
I never got the mysterious stranger to talk to me either but it didn't interfere with the main quest. He's supposed to do a whole Monty Python inspired routine - but I think he's just broken :(
Good luck

YEAH! Good news Grokuk. You've probably found out by now, but it is because we were running two patches at once. Unfortunately, you have to make a new game for that changes to happen...
Just record all your best items (I'd leave out quest items except maybe those Wind Walker shoes or whatever they were) and your stats. Then use the console to make your get your new char up to speed.
