I seem to have avoided the bugs others have had trouble with at this point:
*I sold the boots of Springheel Jack to the Grey Fox before mentioning the diary entry
*I have been able to use every fence up to and including Fathis Ures (1000) even though he was transported to Chorral and not in the Imprerial City - and he bought from me anyway
Problem is, after selling over 1000g (I've actually sold 2874g), over 1000 of that to Fathis, my quest entry still says "I've fenced over 800g and should wait in the Imperial City for a message from the Grey Fox" or some such. I've been waiting there in either the Market or Talos district for about 4 days and on one has contacted me. I'm assuming I should receive a message which activates the final TG quest (Ultimate Heist) but I've got nothing. Is it just broke or am I doing something wrong with the fences?
I noticed that several people had trouble with Fathis because he was moved to Chorral following 'Sins of the Fathers' (a noted bug) and wouldn't trade with them, but I tracked him down in Chorral and had no problem trading - it's just that the next quest doesn't seem to be triggering for some reason.
Any help would be appreciated.

It is Amusei that should be contacting you. hasn't been killed off somehow has he? You might try finding him somehow.
There was two quest you did earlier that involved him. Both were Skriwa's quest. The Jeiloom thin and Lost Histories. If he got killed off in one of those then I think it's hopeless. He should show up and tell you that he has joined the thieves guild.

Hmmm...he met me and told me he'd joined the guild, but didn't give me any message. As per the (
http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:The_Ultimate_Heist) Wiki instructions I waited at the West gate of the Talos district for him to spawn (for about 36 game hours) and he never showed up. I've searched all over the city for him, but can't find him.
Pretty fucked up of Bethesda to have so many glaring bugs at the end of an entire sub-plot like this... :( :mad:

Sorry...I've turned Oblivion over twice now with two different characters but neither one had any problem with the thieves guild quests. My biggest problem was with the MISC. quest. I had so many problems with them it was pathetic.
Man the great heist is a hard fuckng quest....hope you can work out the glitch and play it. The end result is awesome!

Well it will tell you. you have fenced over 800 but you have to keep doing quests and it will tell you. you have fenced 900 1000 ect. and wait outside

I just used to rent a room in the imperial city and waited for either Amusei or the thief girl to come and interrupt my sleep.
(after selling loads of stuff even surpassing the needed limits).
