It just occurred to me why I found the mouse controls so awkward.
The view is top-down, but it controls like a first-person shooter.
I think I'd more expect it to control like an isomeric game, where you have a mouse pointer and the Tronbike adjusts its trajectory to move towards that cursor - but that would completely break the entire premise of the game.

Looks good :).

This is a really cool idea. I haven't played loads, but the mechinic seems loaded with potential.
Playing it, I felt strangely torn about how the controls ought to be. It seems like a precision game so I wanted to use the keyboard. But maybe that'd be too precise. I was thinking of some happy medium where it's keyboard but whichever way you press you keep spinning that way. ie. you can never aim precisely straight, you're always turning left or right.
Maybe that's overthinking it, or another game entirely. I dunno. Some tweak of the feel might make it all good. I don't know what though.
I think adding accelleration could provide a lot of further possibilities for the design, possibly at a later level (if it's already there and I'm an idiot, sorry)
On a large monitor it became a bit hard to precisely tell which way I was pointing at a glance. So maybe the "craft" needs to be a bit bigger/ wider etc.
This is the sort of thing that would do well with that kind of small increments style puzzle design. Like starting with a few quick levels that have big arrows on the ground to show you how it works etc.
Looking forward to the next version.

New version uploaded, check the first post. Try out the gamepad, keyboard, and updated mouse controls. Let me know what you think. Be brutally honest, please.
Gamepad controls are left and right triggers btw, and keyboard is just left & right arrow. Menu interaction still has to be done with the mouse.

I actually played this last night, but I haven't played previous version so I can't really comment on improvements. It was fun, and different, but unfortunately I'm not very good at it. Feels like once you mess up a turn bad, there's no way to correct it and BAM. I'll keep trying though.

Thanks for the feedback! What controls did you use?
I'd appreciate if people tried as many control options as possible and let me know which one works/feels best.

I tried both mouse and KB, but I thought mouse is the better way to go (despite crashing into many walls). I'll give the gamepad a go tonight. I didn't really check, but are you able to map to specific KB keys, like WASD?
henke on 16/3/2016 at 17:34
No, no mapping. I'll add A/D and numpad 4 & 6 to the keyboard controls as well tho, since I just realized that perhaps not all laptops have left and right keys.
