Just downloaded the trailer... very disappointing. Except for some rediculous text (which I paid little attention and no value to, after all that stupid marketroid crap in the beginning), the freeform gameplay is not demonstrated at all.
Instead, it shows almost nothing but people getting killed violently in a set of discontinuous, short gameplay clips. And when it does get to hacking, all you see is the multitool (prepare for the "WTF is with that stupid lightning rod thingy?" posts now). I really enjoyed hacking into pc's and would've loved a sort of mini-os that expanded on the DX hacking set. And two measly bits of dialogue? Where are the clips showing off the physics engine? How can you demonstrate choice without showing two different approaches to the same thing?
And what the heck is with that awful punk/metal/whatever music? I sincerely hope the music in DE2 is a bit more refined.
When people saw the HalfLife2 video, they practically orgasmed because it managed to perfectly show off all the special treats in the game: physics, non-scripted events, character interaction, etc.
This video makes DE2 look like yet another silly shooter with some toys thrown in for fun.
Sorry but the intro was a much better ad than this.
My ideal trailer would be a semi-continuous set of gameplay footage from different playstyles. E.g. 'Sneak': showing an overview of a facility, zooming in on the player's location, lurking in the shadows, watching him take out a couple of guards with non-lethal weapons.

yeh...umm all kinda strange isnt it?
"In the future War on Terror, how will you choose to fight?"
with that sickeningly trite phrase and the "trailer" which is nothing but death scenes ...what the heck is this, like Soldier of Fortune 2150 A.D or something? :weird:
I'm hoping this is like those plot descriptions on the back of paperback novels and bears no particular resemblance to the actual content...

Whoever thought of sticking that 'in the future war on terror' bit in the needs a swift kick in the bollocks. And the music's a bit naff.
They do go a bit overboard on the killing, but that's the nature of the beast. If you're going to just show snippets of the game in action, 'splodes make for sexier trailers. They at least try to illustrate that you can pretty much do as you like.

Under Community|Partners it says that the in-game music is done by the same group that performs in the trailer.
Man, that sucks.

Some of the ingame music is done by said artists, Kidneythieves. They do some of the music in bars, clubs, shops and the like. Basically they perform all the songs that are fictionally supposed to come from NG Resonance, the game's virtual pop star. You can interact with her in the game and she plays a part in the story, and she is actually voice-acted by Kidneythieves lead vocalist. I think that's quite interesting, even if I personally don't care for their music.
The rest of the music (like the music you can hear in the Intro Trailer and on the website) is done by Alexander Brandon, who did most of the music (including the theme) in DX1.
