All I can say about ACO is that it probably would have really really impressed me when I was 15.
I saw ACO at that age and still didn't like it. It solely relied on shock value, narratively a mess and frankly boring.
I haven't seen it since though and may revisit it on BD.
I saw Natural Born Killers around the same time, fucking dreadful. 'Great satire of the media's deification of vile criminals' my arse. It's purely stoner wank bullshit (unsurprisingly I know of a lot of Mighty Boosh fans who adore NBK. The tasteless fuck wits.).
A terrible performance from the talentless and insufferable, Juliette Lewis, didn't help matters much.

I still think the best thing Tarantino pumped out was his part in 4 Rooms.
I'm also looking forward to IB though.
As for pixar. I wasn't much of a fan of monsters inc or cars either.
UP certainly was good though.

Agreed on all counts. :)

Yeah, my vitrol is in part because I suspect JtW's film taste lie in the direction described by myself and AngelDust, which isn't really fair because he hasn't stated. In my experience however, people who usually deride Pixar for making "family" films are huge fans of splatter cinema and inane
Mallrats carbon copies.
For me it's more about someone having a very narrow view of film, informed by what is edgy/hip/arty, in an attempt to be 'different' rather than what they actually like. I talking generally here and not 'calling out' JtW or anything because even if I found his reduction of the Pixar 'formula' ridiculous, I don't know where his tastes lie. I absolutely
love cinema and know that I love films,
2001,[8 1/2,
Wild Strawberries, that would drive you and dethtoll up the wall! I can also see however that stuff like
Wall-E is just as great as those films even if it's aims are different.

Well if you're into stuff like Tarantino and Mall Cop and whatever bullshit Kevin Smith has pooped out lately then, yeah, you're probably not going to be a Pixar fan. Just sayin'. :erg: Films can actually be "family friendly" with lovable characters and still come off in a fresh way and have something relevant to say. My tastes run counter to most ttlger's I guess. The last film everyone here ejaculated over was Watchmen. That's 4 hours of my life I could have spent stabbing myself in the eye with an 8 slice toaster that I'll never get back. I'm very fond of my own penis, and I've spent less time in my life looking at it than I did at the blue guy's. It was the only thing TO look at because none of the acting was commanding any attention. I'll take Pixar any day over another shitty comic book movie that only edgy people understand because they've read all 6+ comic books before the creator killed himself with his shoe (or whateverthefuck was so magnificent about the guy).
For those of you keeping count, I just said Pixar's stuff is better than Tarantino, the Knocked Up guy, Kevin Smith, and Marvel films. Yeah, I said that. BRING IT.
BRAVO! Encore, encore encore.
I'm a very old kid and just love these animated flicks. Except anime. I just don't get that stuff.

I'm an extremely jaded and cynical individual when it comes to film. "Emotional porn", or poorly made exploitative drivel designed to manipulate emotions like "Marley and Me" and the usual sports films (the underdogs over came all adversity and triumphed!) really piss me off.
Pixar films are those Anti-Christ of these films, genuinely made with care and not just to wring dollars out of merchandising and Happy Meal tie-ins. They have soul.
Anyway, my point is Wall-E was one of the very few films in recent memory that actually made cry. An absolutely terrific film.

The only thing I didn't like about Wall-E was the fact that it was Disney presenting a story with the moral that massive money-grubbing corporations who merchandise everything cynically are bad. Rang kinda hollow. But ignoring that, it was a truly great film.

I must know if you actually meant "anti-christ" or if you actually meant "antithesis"
