Pixar can't fuck up, because they play it safe everytime by relying on the same formula again and again, which is:
Eccentric cast + family-friendly humour + obvious movie references + happy feel-good ending
Being a nostalgic person, I'm still looking forward to see Toy Story 3, although I do think that it makes the movies awfully repetitive and predictable in the long run. I wonder how long Pixar will be able to keep this up.

In this day and age, we need a feel good movie. I bring my own popcorn. I refuse to pay for that shit they call popcorn these days. There will always be a new generation of kids, along with their parents that will love these movies. It will go on and on........

Well if you're into stuff like Tarantino and Mall Cop and whatever bullshit Kevin Smith has pooped out lately then, yeah, you're probably not going to be a Pixar fan. Just sayin'. :erg: Films can actually be "family friendly" with lovable characters and still come off in a fresh way and have something relevant to say. My tastes run counter to most ttlger's I guess. The last film everyone here ejaculated over was Watchmen. That's 4 hours of my life I could have spent stabbing myself in the eye with an 8 slice toaster that I'll never get back. I'm very fond of my own penis, and I've spent less time in my life looking at it than I did at the blue guy's. It was the only thing TO look at because none of the acting was commanding any attention. I'll take Pixar any day over another shitty comic book movie that only edgy people understand because they've read all 6+ comic books before the creator killed himself with his shoe (or whateverthefuck was so magnificent about the guy).
For those of you keeping count, I just said Pixar's stuff is better than Tarantino, the Knocked Up guy, Kevin Smith, and Marvel films. Yeah, I said that. BRING IT.

I've heard rumors about this, and I wasn't sure what had become of it. I'm glad it's finally being advertised; I can't wait!
But Jim Varney..... :(
Has it really been ten years since Toy Story 2? Wow.....

I don't mind family-friendliness as long as they try something new and risky, something that Pixar obviously isn't too fond of.
Actually, it's as if the plots were just as computed-generated as the actual movies. I know today's kids don't mind, but dang, as an adult, I can rewatch some of the older Disney movies and still find them awesome.

Very few people actually have ejaculated over Watchmen, considering its lackluster reception. It doesn't make it any less awesome however, get over the freaking penis.
But what on earth does it have anything to do with Pixar? I mean, Tarantino, Kevin Smith, Judd Apatow, Marvel? What the hell are you talking about, man?

He doesn't have to explain the irrelevance of his post, he's from Thiefgen.

Okay, now what the hell are YOU talking about? :p
It's a tangent I guess. It just amazes me how people can pan The Incredibles or Wall-E for being formulaic, yet I often hear those same people laud Kill Bill or Watchmen for being some glorious ground-breaking change of format. The problem is that pretty much any story fits the Hero's Journey format. Just because someone deviates from it doesn't make them good, just as a film isn't automatically bad for adhering to long successful formulas. Within some of the Pixar films are great variation within the "family friendly" theme, but even for those that retread the same ground, Pixar is doing a great job of addressing deeper issues in a way that could/should profoundly affect kids as they develop their world view. That may not be a big draw for me personally, but it's sure as hell better than walking away thinking, "What the fuck was that? Did I really just pay $7 to see Robert DeNiro bore me to tears AGAIN?"

Having opinions about children's cartoon movies
shameful

Anybody who lauds
Kill Bill or
Watchmen films as being ground-breaking in any way is quite frankly an idiot, although I don't recall anybody here actually saying that for
Watchmen nor do I recall the overall consesus being hugely positive. I do share your distaste for the people who belittle so called 'standard' films, no matter how good they really are, while trumpeting what they deem to be 'superior' cinema. I'm a massive film buff, watching 4-5 films a week and covering foreign/classic/arty and mainstream films, and I still rate Pixar films very very highly as do the 'snobby' film critics. And why is that? Let's see:
How many films a year follow this so called mainstream pattern?
Hundreds upon hundreds.
And how many of them are anywhere near as brilliant as
Wall-E and
The Incredibles?
Sweet fuck all.
Originality doesn't mean shit if the film isn't great and if the film is great, well, that's all that matters.

If you can't see anything adventurous at all in a family movie that has a first act almost completely void of dialogue, you're a bit of an idiot yourself.
