Torrents suddenly VERY slow. Why? - by SubJeff

So utorrent has, in the past week, suddenly started DLing very, very slowly. I get 0-3kb/s atm and some estimated times for 200+Mb files is a week!
I haven't changed anything, Speedtest.net says my DL speed is still 10Mbp/s, so what's the deal here? ISP throttling torrents? And if so, how do I find out? (
http://broadband.mpi-sws.org/transparency/bttest.php) Glasnost gives me an error on just trying to connect so...
Everything else seems to be fine. iPlayer, YouTube, Spotify, websites, etc. Oh, I've occasionally lost connection when in MP games but that could be me or my opponent.

Only thieves use torrents, it's a punishment from God.
Try a different port.

I've tried several.

Yeah, your ISP might be throttling torrent traffic for you. Have you tried enabling BitTorrent protocol encryption on your client? Turn it on if you haven't yet, and see if that changes things any.

I did a bit of messing about in uTorrent and it seems to be working fine now. I suspect it was related to my seeding ratio but tbh I'm not sure about all that.
