It's still Perry isn't it?
Edit: n/m, I guess he was the black stig.

Oh god, that hidden message is pure win written with a capital W, I and N.
Also, my friend is an absolute maniac of the show. I like it, but not to that point. My absolute favourite is the Challenger-2 episode.
"This tank has a rifled cannon for accuracy, unlike those American smoothbore cannons which just hit something *awesome gesture* over there."

Perhaps I've just become very cynical, but almost all of their stunts and screw-ups these days seem completely scripted and forced.
I've never actually used this term before, but..."word". I saw an episode about their loathing of carvans, where they try out a weekend in one. Clarkson "accidentally" sets fire to it while doing the cooking and the whole thing burns down. It was so painfully scripted that it wasn't even funny.:tsktsk: Two more points I thought I'd make;
1) Jeremy Clarkson is the most annoying person on TV
2) Richard Hammond is the most annoying person on TV
3) The above may sound like a contradiction, but is in fact, absolutely true.
Anyway, frankly I don't give a toss about cars unless it's a Triumph Spitfire or a Cobra.

Two pretty things destined to be wrapped around a tree :D
Although frankly, the Spitfire in MkIV or 1500 incarnation isn't a pretty sight at all to my eyes.

I don't own a car.
I don't have a driver's license.
I live in a small, far-off country.
I know nothing about cars.
Yet I know, and laugh at, Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson and that other guy on a weekly basis. It's hilarious. Somehow, they make something as dull as motors and supergeek techstuff I know nothing about sound interesting and FUNNY. I don't have the faintest idea what a "gambon" is, (apart from Michael Gambon), or a "crankshaft" (apart from Dr, the cartoon character), or nitrous oxide (apart from it being quite laughable) and yet I'm having a smashing good time. I don't even know who the Stig is, but he does sound vaguely Swedish...
So yes. I like Top Gear. For no obvious reasons.

I was determined not to like this show, but peer pressure defeated me yet again. I like it now, peversely, because it is such a blatant drain on license fee money.

The same. In an early show, he did something unusual on that corner. 2-wheels I think.

Ah. There you go. Live and learn.

Do they love Rob Dougan or what?

So has anyone else seen the US version yet? I watched the first episode today. It does have the same production-values, and just as crazy stunts as the original. Hell, they start things off by having a Cobra attackhelicopter chase a Dodge Viper through a small town. But the chemistry between the hosts ain't quite as natural as the original. That's a given, for a new show. But yeah, surprisingly good so far.
