I just thought, "Hang on, he does talk about Hyper Light Drifter!", but then I realised I was thinking about this video:

I generally find his Game Maker's Toolkit videos well worth watching.

Frog Fractions is clearly what deserved to be #1. Either that, or N. I confess I did not and do not understand what the fuss is over Spelunky, as I'm generally left cold by its design even though I'm a staunch platformer enthusiast. Whatever its joyous interplay of systems happens to be, I struggle to find much fun in it.

Putting one of the top-10 Star Wars games of all time at the very bottom of the list (and below all the other Atari 2600 Star Wars games, which were awful) = holy clickbait.

KotOR II. Then probably Jedi Outcast and X-Wing Alliance.

Dark Forces. Always Dark Forces.
Had lots of fun playing Tie Fighter last year though. Surprised how closely Freespace took after it.

Have the earlier X-Wing games ever been ported to the XWA engine? I'd really like to revisit X-Wing and Tie Fighter but I'm not sure I could deal with pre-3D accel.

A modder called Darksaber did an XWA total conversion for TIE Fighter, but has apparently pulled it from the web due to 'incompatibility with modern operating systems'. His site claims it'll be back some day though.
I might have the installer on my home computer if you're interested, though I'd have to check to see if its still there.

Yeah, it is a shame.
As for my favorite Star Wars game, Jedi Academy all the way. Still boot it up on occasion to do Jedi vs. Jedi battling sometimes. Republic Commando gets an honorable mention, for trying something different and achieving some success at that difference.

Turns out someone is also trying to (
http://www.polygon.com/2016/12/28/14106830/x-wing-remaster-unity) port X-Wing to Unity; they didn't intend for it to be announced yet so expect legal Death Stars to assault it shortly.
