"...well we already have these spider animations from Thief and we need some more enemy variety so why the hell not..?" - Irrational Games

Well, that's almost the same way we got the monkeys and no one's picking on them.
(Don't even think about it.)
ZylonBane on 12/4/2009 at 20:06
That's really not at all how we got monkeys. We got the monkeys in the same way that we got the Macarena easter egg-- Irrational screwing around with the motion capture rig.
Thief II, on the other hand, got the security "faces" and those damn combat bots pretty much straight from SS2.
Kolya on 12/4/2009 at 20:21
I know all about the left over motion capturing time (Do you think I never listened when you told the story?). That's why I said "almost". The point being that it were external reasons that led to them being included in the game.

im on Operations, and a spider thing bit me. wtf, spiders on a spaceship? w/e. anyways i had one toxic hypo, and it relieved most of my toxins. i have one level of toxin left, one little biohazard symbol left. AND IT WONT GO AWAY. it's bugging the hell out of me. none of the reps even HAVE an anti-toxin, and when i die, the get resurrected with a spider thing and a cyborg assassin where i die instantly. WTF?!
You could always just use the good ol "summon" console command and spawn one for yourself. If you don't like the idea of "cheating" a little, just pretend you found it on the floor somewhere :sly:
The Summon command brings forth an item or object, player
or enemy. To summon an object, hold [Shift] key down and
press the semicolon [;]. Then type "SUMMON_OBJ x" where x
is the desired item (without spaces) and push [Enter].

The Surgeon General warns that doing so may break the game so that it becomes unfinishable later, so caveat emptor, as it were. If you do this, save first.

Also, it's a free ticket to ridicule around here.

Only if you do something to deserve it.
