I like a lot of movies that are considered mediocre or even bad, but here I'll just post the ones I really like rather than the ones which I only like more than most people.
Knowing - Easy to poke large holes in the story, but it captivated me from start to finish, very suspenseful and interesting to watch. I recently watched it again. I think there are some people who hate this movie mainly because they don't like Christian symbolism in their movies.
The Cell - Weak writing, utterly ridiculous premise, but man, is it visually creative and inventive. After also watching his subsequent movie The Fall (I recommend it, it's not for everyone but it's one of the most original things you'll ever see), I think Tarsem Singh is a visual genius and I'm eagerly awaiting his next movie.
The Chase - A guilty pleasure of mine, I love this movie. I remember watching this on the same day as Speed, a movie that everyone was raving over, and liking The Chase much more.
Snakes on a Plane - I maintain that while this is a knowingly cheesy and goofy movie, I don't think it's actually as bad as people say it is. It's got many colorful albeit two-dimensional characters, many of the jokes work very well, acting is decent if nothing special, Sam Jackson is his awesome self, and the movie is well-shot and well-directed, I mean the director manages to wrangle some actual suspense out of a laughable premise.
A Good Year - Russell Crowe is not the greatest comedy actor but the movie has gorgeous pictures of the French countryside (few directors can make a better looking movie than Ridley Scott) and I just think it's a cute and charming movie.
Hannibal - Yeah, Silence of the Lambs is better but I still really like this movie as well. <3 Ridley Scott.

I'm adding The Secret of My Success.....
I don't know if even
I could go that far. The only good thing out of that stinker was the really bad Night Ranger song. And I still think Gilligan's Island was genius.
Tocky-- :thumb: The Trinity series!
Adding to the list:
- Sam Fuller's
White Dog: The film was shit. The acting was shit. Somehow it's captivating (and even made a Criterion edition).
-
Brain Donors: Who would have thought that an homage to the Marx Brothers starting John Turturro could have turned out so heinously bad, yet I can't help watching.
-
Freddy Got Fingered: I can't decide if this is genius, or fucking awful. But to me, it's as if Cecil B. DeMille captured a donkey show.
...and for all of you who keep posting it, Blazing Saddles does
not belong on this list.

Let's not forget the original post says:

any Richard Donner film
Which includes the entire Lethal Weapon series. Say what you will about the sequels, but the original is a genre defining classic.

The original sort of made sense. It was called "Lethal Weapon" after all.

Yes I love Hudson Hawk as well. I can not believe it has a score of only 5.4 on IMDb. I mean it's funny and wacky and never stops to catch it's breath, just moves from one funny scene to the next without much fumbling around inbetween. Great cast as well, especially Richard Grant and Sandra Bernhard as the Mayflowers.
Ok, here are some films I enjoyed enough to watch multiple times:
Last Action Hero
MacGruber
Mission Impossible II
Replacement Killers
The One
How all of these have a IMDb scores under 6.0 is beyond me. It's like everyone else was watching different movies than I was.
*high fives Brian the Dog for standing up for DOA*

Last Action Hero isn't bad, it's awesome. Somehow underappreciated because it was before its time, and no one really expected Schwarzenneger in such a film.

For my friend's movie night tonight he has C.H.U.D., Battlefield Earth, and Saturn 3 lined up. That's the kind of line up that deserves a place in this thread.

I keep seeing Conan the Barbarian in here. I suppose it has a certain amount of naffness - there is some terrible acting and a few embarrassing scenes - but overall I really like this film and I don't actually think it's a bad film.
The Destroyer on the other hand... (apart from Grace Jones. "Grab him. Take him." lol)
And Last Action Hero is bad. Watch it again. It's so bad I can't watch it.
Nameless Voice on 23/1/2011 at 11:42
I have seen it recently. It's a deconstruction of the action film genre which lampshades or subverts buckets of tropes.
