Yeow! That ringtone is horribly painful to listen to. Then I tried listening to the other frequencies (starting at 12000) and I quit at 15000 because it began to hurt too much to listen to and I have the volume lower than what I normally listen to and I'm not using headphones! I'm suprised anyone was able to go though all of them to test their hearing. If I try to listen to the others, I hope I can't hear them.
I guess I should be glad I could hear it, since I'm in my 30's and used a walkman on a frequent (*cough*daily*) basis to crankup my heavymetal when I was a teen.
For those of you who don't know what a walkman is... think "primitive iPod" :joke:

Hmm, I'm not too good with the biology, but I
think the human ear hears different frequencies with different volume.. so some filtering behind the mics could be neccessary.
Yeah, but consider that most microphones already have a response pattern that is not dissimilar to the Fletcher-Munson loudness curves of yore.

I can hear them all, though starting at 15K I have to turn up the volume of my speakers. 22K doesn't count, the 'tone' I heard is lower than 21K.

That was cool. My mom (ahem) couldn't hear it at all.
But now my ears are ringing. Or I'm hearing it in my brain real loud :p

I tried Scots' link again on a set of monitors and I was able to hear up to 18,000, though 18 and 19 were more feel than actual sound.
Because I know you all want to keep abreast of my hearing developments.

I should see how my dad fares. He hasn't heard a fucking word my mom said since the CSN&Y concert he went to in the 70s. That's his excuse anyway...
But seriously, my mom's voice seems to be too high for him to hear it well at all, but he can hear my voice fine. Plus he's got that tinitis(?) thing so he hears a constant *eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee* anyway.

I can hear up to 20,000 on some really old sony headphones that came with my cd player in 1996. :D
Unfortunately what you are hearing isn't the tone, sorry.
