I can hear the 19,000 pretty well and the 20,000 if i turn it way up. Beyond that is nothing.
Edit: Scratch that, I can still feel it in my head when it's really loud on 25,000.Because frequency response of speakers/headphones and also probably sound card is never linear. High frequencies input generates slight audible frequency output, which is very audible when the level is very high.
With good headphones and nearly max volume I can barely hear 21000, and never managed to hear 22000.

vibrate mode still makes a buzzing sound that is audible to most people within a couple of feet.
I could hear the 20,000 tone with my volume up really high, after that not so much.

I could hear up to 23,000 and my somewhat noisy printer was printing at the same time.

What, in your pocket? It's a vibration motor, not a bloody V8.

18000 clearly as day, after that drop to almost nothing - and beyond.

have you never sat in a theatre next to some idiot that didn't turn his phone off
completely and had that damn buzzer go off? You can fucking hear it. Admittedly it's dependent on the tightness of their pockets, but it IS audible.

I suspect the quality of your speakers plays a part in how high up the scale you hear.
Anyway, I'm somewhat amused that students have been using TECHNOLOGY to create a 'adult-proof' ringtone when the easy solution would be to turn the phones onto vibrate mode and put them in their pockets. :weird:
Yeah, I'm certain my speakers are distorting the higher ones, so I can hear them, but they don't sound as "high" as, say, 17000 which seems to be the highest frequency that plays to me. So it's hard to know.

What kind of crazy prehistoric phones do you have over there?
I work with mobile phones every day as part of my job and I've not had a phone where the vibration could be heard when the phones were in pockets. On desks, yeah that I can understand. Loose pocket with keys in there too, yup, again, no problem.
