Quick update for everyone from his wife on FB - this was at around 10PM, so only about 5 hours or so after the surgery started:

Thanks, Brethren, for letting everyone know... I was trying but couldn't get off the phone with family. He is doing as good as could possibly be expected. We still haven't seen him, we aren't leaving here until we do. They will only let us in for a couple of minutes tonight because so much is going on, that's fine, I want them to focus on him!
