I was just reading Thomas Sowell's "History Versus Visions" from "Black Rednecks and White Liberals" (a belated but great birthday present), which has a really good take on the theme the thread-starter pretends to take up. He refers to Aboriginal Australians more often, but it fits about as well. It's also a great wrap-up on the themes of the previous essays in the book. I highly recommend the book to anyone with an interest in history and culture. Before you assume anything based on the fact that I'm the one recommending it, as far as I can remember (I read the first three essays) it contains no explicit libertarianism.

All the yanks who come over here seem to like us just fine...
