Could've just locked him in a room watching tapes of Shatner for 3 days. That would have been just as effective.
...and wouldn't have wasted the staples.

I must say, as a lifelong Trek fan, I started with TNG. I didn't like it at all, nor do I now. I just can't watch it. I don't know why, because one of my best friends LOVES it. He can quote things about the ship, the size, info on how transporters "work" etc. Personally, I watched DS9 for years, until I finally had to go download all the seasons and just watch them straight through. If only that show hadn't quit, because the seasons at the end were definitely my favorite. I also use to watch Voyager, although like most people I got tired of it quickly. After they basically killed off Kess early on and brought in Seven, I realized what the fans of the series meant to the producers...money. I did, however, get together with said friend to watch the finale on his big-screen TV. As stupid as the treatment of the Borg was in that show (in context of TNG and the occasional DS9 reference), the last episode was at least watchable, although the story had gone so far into left field at that point I wasn't really worried so much about what was happening as I was about how they finally got home.
WAAAAYYYYYYY too much time travel and weird mumbo-jumbo in the last season or so of Voyager. WAY.

Not for long, dear. Don't look now but I'm right behind you with a loaded stapler. Retract your anti-Star Trek comments or I'll take you down.

Now Dia, dear, calm down.
They are obviously lacking something.
You could be insensitive an say that they are a pair of Denebian Slime Devils, or lock them in that room with those Shatner tapes (with their eyes stapled open, of course), totally lose it with that-there stapler (watch where you're pointing that thing), or be kind and dig deeper to find that they have poster sized pictures of Pikachu on their walls, they worship at the altar of Britney and Christina, and think that the perfect Science Fiction movie is "Dungeons & Dragons" (2000).
You must be generous with your patience.
Especially with those who do not and cannot know any better.
