So, I grabbed Titan Souls on a sale and I have to say I'm not impressed, unfortunately. It kind of wants to be a top down 2D Shadow of the Colossus, and I did dig the aesthetics, but the mechanics let me down mightily.
The game is essentially a series of boss fights, but you (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pPQnhhUqtU) die in one hit and the bosses also die in one hit (although sometimes you have to get them to open up their vulnerable spot first), so it's kind of a crapshoot of trial and error to figure out the boss patterns and you can die very easily without any chance of anticipating it.
Furthermore, the boss dying in one hit feels pretty anti-climactic, sometimes coming down to luck more than actual skill. Some bosses died extremely quickly while some took a dozen retries to get the patterns down. And, to add insult to injury, you're not fighting actual titans, but what feels more like random puzzle bosses, so unlike SotC it doesn't feel like you've taken down something big and impressive.
The game was also pretty short -- it lasted somewhere around 3 hours plus change. If I hadn't got it at 90% off, I would have been really disappointed.
