This is a year by year timeline of Deus Ex, meaning it isn't
"Friday JC Denton starts at UNATCO"
It is
"2052 JC Denton becomes and active agent, leaves UNATCO with brother Paul, defeats Majestic 12."
It took me a while to compile, and this most recent update (it has been on the PDX boards for some time) includes info on the Freemasons, Rosicrucians, and BilderbergsAs well as quite a bit more on the Templars and a very little bit more about the Illuminati.
1090 Hassan Sabah founded the Order of Assassins or Hashishim.
1118 Baldwin II, the Patriarch of Jerusalem accepted the vow of Hugues de Payens, a knight from Champagne, and eight other knights to forever protect the "Kingdom of Christendom." They were given charitable lodgings in the city temple where they became the "pauvres chevaliers du temple", or the "poor knights of the temple". This was the beginning of the Templar Knights, an order of warrior monks.
1128 The Council of Troyes. The Templar Knights adopted the austere, monastic Rule of St. Benedict, along with the white garments of the Cistercians - adding to them the characteristic red cross that symbolized their willingness to spill their own blood in the defense of the One True Faith. Templar Knights receive papal approval.
1215 Earliest records that the oracle found relating to the Illuminati and Majestic 12 are from this year.
1218 Construction was begun on Cathedrale de Payens, financed by the Templar Knights.
1225 St. Thomas Aquinas is born.
1227 Possible alternate birth date of St. Thomas Aquinas.
1250 The coffers of the Templars are so large that it is not uncommon for pilgrims to deposit their money with a temple in London or Paris, and then cash in their receipt upon arriving in Jerusalem, thus establishing the foundations for modern banking and checking accounts.
1264 Siege of Safed, 90 Templars died, 80 others were taken prisoner and, after refusing to deny Christ, died martyrs.
1274 St. Thomas Aquinas dies.
1291 Europeans in the Holy Land were defeated, the Templars left the Holy Land as a result.
1304 With the cooperation of the French pope Clement V, Philip accuses the Templars of heresy and places all members of the order in France under arrest.
1307 Templars secretly move gold of the French treasury to Cathedrale de Payens, just beating the crackdown.
1310 May 12th Fifty-four Templars who had recanted after having confessed were condemned as relapsed and publicly burned.
1311 The dissolution of the order of the Templar Knights. According to The Red Cross: A History of the Knights Templar by Richard Baigent. This is incorrect, it is probably a mistake based on the fact that the council which they were condemned in began in this year.
1312 The order of the Templar Knights is dissolved. According to some sources.
1314 The last Grand Master of the Temple (Templar leader), Jacques de Molay, is martyred.
1317 To fill the place of the Templars in Portugal the king created the Christi Militia. This order received the approbation of Pope John XXII. These Knights of Christ would receive the Templars land and members.

1798 Washington writes, ". . . So far as I am acquainted with the principles and Doctrines of Free Masonry, I conceive them to be founded on benevolence and to be exercised for the good of mankind. If it has been a Cloak to promote improper or nefarious objects, it is a melancholly [sic] proof that in unworthy hands, the best institutions may be made use of to promote the worst designs."

*Somnolente Ile, an exclusive resort in Cote d'Azur, was the site of a clandestine meeting between then President Serra and reputed members of the Zuganov crime family in an attempt to funnel almost three billion credits of tainted money through French banks. The deal was reportedly brokered by a cabal of major banking interests - including deceased financier Beth DuClare, her involvement was never proved. Some sources went so far as to suggest that the entire meeting was the result of a plot hatched by the "Bilderbergs", a supposedly secret society formed of wealthy and powerful industrialists shortly after World War II.

Excellent work. I hope you don't mind me saving a copy. :thumb:
I believe I heard someone mention something about Aquinas and the City on a Hill in school a while ago, but I'll have to check it out.

No problem with you saving a copy, I learned the hard way (from OHND) that if you find something you like you should save it. Just give me credit if you use it for something.
I also have most of the conversation text sorted and linked to on this page
(
http://christhecynic.o-f.com/ConText.html)
Same idea, copy all you like, but it you start useing it somewhere be co kind as to give me credit (for the Timeline give me credit for makeing it, for the conversation text give me credit for coverting it to a readable format -Took forever- and sorting it.)
Z on 4/9/2003 at 20:41
Thanks - I wasn't talking about hosting, just archiving a copy on my HD (with your handle attached)
Also, great website resource. :D
Z
EDIT: Just realised. Combining your site - which has all the conversation and bark text - with (
http://stl.caltech.edu/dx.shtml) STL's site - which has an annotated DeusExText.u with comments - we essentialy have all the Deus Ex text online somewhere. Handy.

I undestood you weren't talking about hosting, I just meant that if you should at some point decide that you want to put part or all of it up no the net give me credit.
As to haveing everything, not quite yet. My site doesn't have all of the conversation text up yet.
Lytha on 5/9/2003 at 15:23
I just had a long look at your website with the conversations, chris. You did a very good job there - there are dialogue lines for psycho behaviour of the player I wouldn't ever have imagined. :D

I did a little looking around.
The 'City on the Hill' phrase aparently was not originated by Aquinas, in whatever way he used it he was aparently making referance to Jesus' Sermon on the Mount. Matthew chapter 5, verse 14 holds the quote. The contexts encourages the audience to 'shine' as examples of righteousness just as a city on a hill would be seen to shine in the darkness.
I have seen some referances to people such as the pilgrims (and later) using the City on the Hill referance in regard for their dreams of America.
[edit]For the record
an overview of Sir Thomas Aquinas writings (which i have not read...err ether the writings themselves or the summary :P ) can be found here.

Great work on the timeline Chris. Thank you very much.
