Nice one, SubJeff! Let us know how you get on with the build.

Parts arrive this week so I should have it running by new year.
1 SSD for Windows 10, 1 for Mac OS.

All parts are here, except the blooming RAM!
I've had to cancel the order and reorder it somewhere else. It seems there is a shortage of DDR4 RAM in the UK!

Don't you just hate it when that happens? Everything ready 'cept for one part, and the whole project stalls. Oh well, happy new year/PC anyhow!

At least it's an easy to install part. He could still slap the whole thing together in the meantime, then pop in the RAM when it arrives.

Yeah, but being so tantalisingly close is part of what makes it more painful compared to, say, waiting for the motherboard to arrive.

But he does have the added advantage of not having to wait long to get it up and running when that one missing part does arrive.
If the motherboard's missing, you've still gotta spend time putting it all together, even after the extra wait. The RAM? Open the side, pop it in, and you're rolling. Being almost there might irk you a bit more while you're waiting, but it's a benefit when that last missing part finally comes in.

I'm replacing bits so it's not a complete new build.
I don't want to assemble everything outside the case and just leave it waiting, and I can't put in what I've got because then I've no computer for a few days :(

Renz,
How quiet is your water cooler? My main objective with my current desktop was to make it as silent as possible. I wanted to go with water cooling but was told by several people that if I bought an off the shelf water cooler, I should expect to hear the pump whine. So I chickened out and got a big Thermaltake NiC C4 cooler and replaced the fans with Noctua. It is silent at full load, but it's also honking big and stresses the vertically mounted motherboard.
Now if only I could find a silent power supply.
