How come you have a W10 machine, thought they were not coming out until end of July.
But that sounds fantastic...i was not too keen to get a W8 machine...even with the improvements it still has a bit of a bitter taste to it...bad launch and you never quite get over it.
FYI my first machine was a vista, I never had a problem with it even though it was hated, still considered by many to be the worse windows ever...so maybe I'm being a bit over cautious about W8.... But can wait for W10 so may well do so

I'm in the Windows Insider program. I've been using 10 for about the last month or so.
The biggest problem people had with 8 was that there were two of everything, with two different ways to manage them. Some of the default programs used their Metro fullscreen equivalent, rather than the usual desktop programs. Like you'd go click on a picture, and suddenly you'd find yourself deep in the bowels of an entirely different interface.
It was easy enough to bang into back into shape if you knew what you were doing, but for everyone else, it was a convoluted, confusing mess.

is that some sort of beta testing for new windows OS ? guess they must have them, do you have to test out everything windows comes up with including all the upgrades ? if so i kind of guess you have your hands full :laff:

Eh, I just use it as usual. Every once in awhile I'll post a bug report, or they'll send me a notification asking me a question or two. It's not that complicated.

* I'm on Win10 right now, and it's basically Win7 with 'some' bits of 8 thrownm in,
* If you're coming straight from 7, the most jarring change would probably be the new Start menu.
* +1
* Download and install 'Classic Shell' - google it.

I know about Classic Shell. It and Start8 are must haves for Win8 if you never warm up to the fullscreen start menu, but I don't think it's all that necessary in 10. It's not exactly the same, but all that functionality is still there. Albeit moved around a bit.
