Getting TN to run on:
Windows2000
PentiumIII 800
Geforce2 MX
SoundBlaster Live Player 5.1
Can it be done?

Pick that gauntlet up, Soldier! This is a military base, not a laundry!
Uh, that is to say, you tell us :)
I don't recall offhand whether anyone is running TN on a Win2K system, so let us know how you get on and if you run into errors we might be able to help.
Use the forum search function to see if you can find any answers, and there's a recent thread which gives links to the threads that contain most information about running TN on modern systems.
(edit)
hmm... doesn't look too good :/ I'm sure that DeathStalker would love to know if you have any success, though! (Not to mention the rest of us, who may well end up with an NT-based system at some point in the future...)

Almost immediately after I posted that message, my internet connection died (for a week.) An omen perchance?
Story so far:
Copied TN CD contents to hardrive. Right clicked on the install.exe and created a shortcut. Played around with the properties to get full screen. Clicked the shortcut.
Said no to VBE thing. (Seemed like a safe bet.)
Ok, the install starts: Mouse pointer doesn't work properly. (It likes the top-left corner of the screen, and won't come out.) Sound card refuses to work at all.
Ok, so I install with no sound/music, And it does actually install. :-)
Run the game. Get the Looking Glass logo movie, get the TN intro movie (sans sound). Then, nothing, black screen...
Presently debating the wisdom of reformating hard drive and installing a win95/win2000 dual boot. Ho ho ho.

Some progress: Downloaded VDM Sound. Available here: (
http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~vromas/vdmsound/) http://www.ece.mcgill.ca/~vromas/vdmsound/
And that gets the sound working. However after the intial intro movie has played, TN crashes out with this:
General protection fault
EAX: 00000000 EBX: 00000000 ECX: 00012c00 EDX: 0000ffff TXT: 00000307

I can only imagine this is a Windows2000 or video card problem.
As a side note, I did manage to get Doom2 to run with sound using VDM Sound and the CLI2NOP patch (part of the SoundFX download, available here: (
http://www.softsystem.co.uk).) www.softsystem.co.uk).
Going to see if installing the latest Windows Service Pack helps any, as soon as my boardband connection gets put in.
