A motorcycle is just half a convertible
JACKofTrades on 20/3/2006 at 00:03

except that leaves you exposed to the elements, plus the "falling down in heavy traffic and getting run over" factor.
I'll give you the elements thing, but I'd venture that a motorcycle is almost as safe as that thing is, and motorcycles don't make you look like a dork.

Hey, you can drive three-wheel cars on a motorcycle license, last I heard. I don't think America really had three-wheel cars, so I'm not sure what law applies over here. If it's the same, it means 15 year old kids could be driving these things. :erg:
I'd also gladly look like a dork if I'm getting 330mpg.

This is more (

Three wheeled vehicles can actually be quite stable if the single wheel is on the back. Except if they're backing up, then they aren't as stable, but still, it shouldn't tip.
It does look really funky though.

Damn, that's ugly! Wouldn't be seen dead in such a thing! :p

Aguy: While I am considering motorcycles, scooters, there is the aformentioned exposure to elements, which I don't mind as much as having to breathe in everyone's exhaust straught-up, and the helmets with filters in them are apparently VERY expensive (as in, thousands of dollars). Second off, you know a motorcycle license to drive a motorcycle - I don't even have my driver's license yet (no time to take the test or do a little practice corner-backing, the magical skill that no one can teach me how to do because it wasn't on their tests and the Washington folks require you to use a convoluted 8-step or whatever system). And yeah, with motorcycles...much more dangerous. It's hard when I personally know a guy who got in a motorcycle accident and now is wheelchair bound and has a LOT of trouble speaking (he was one of those guys who was bad enough that doctors suggested just pulling the plug, but rehab helped him some). And then there's the lack of storage space, too - even tiny cars like this one have more than a motorcycle.

Unfortunately looks are important, and that vehicle will not do too well in the conventional car market. If I didn't have to use my car for business, I would be driving a scooter. Anyway, 330 mpg is impressive. I wonder if it struggles going uphill.
