I will live in Montana. And I will marry a round American woman and raise rabbits, and she will cook them for me.
Out today!

It's not Texas, but it's still looking very nice.

That looks very nice. I still haven't gotten to the Idaho, Oregon, and Washington DLCs tho. Actually, I started playing Snowrunner again today so I think it'll be some time before I get back to ATS.

Does the DLC have dental floss farms?
demagogue on 9/8/2022 at 10:48
I don't know if I've ever seen a dental floss farm to confirm or not. :erm:
I have to believe though that somewhere someone is raisin' it up, waxin' it down, in a little white box that they can sell uptown.

reminds me I need to floss more

As sad as it is - and it is sad - I am kinda hyped for Spider-Man Remastered on PC. I played the original game on PS4 and enjoyed it well enough, but it's specifically the ray tracing available in this version that excites me. Ray tracing in games strikes me as hit-and-miss - sometimes it feels like a genuine upgrade, sometimes there's barely a difference in visuals but the performance hit is massive. In Control, I loved the way in which ray tracing made my character more of a part of the surroundings: I'd stand in front of a door or something wrapped in plastic and see my blurred reflection. While I was doubtful beforehand, it felt not dissimilar to me to physics and ragdolling in games like Max Payne 2: the world reacting the way we know the real world reacts. You run into a pile of objects, they go flying. You shoot a dude in a staircase and he tumbles down the stairs, ending up in an awkward pose. Having light do its thing in a closer approximation of what it's like in the real world, without the tricks and workarounds that games have used.
It's by no means had that impact for me in all games that feature ray tracing, but Spider-Man, with its virtual New York and its many, many skyscrapers... from the videos I've seen, this is one of the games where ray-traced reflections make a difference. Clinging to the side of a building, seeing yourself as well as the actual buildings on the other side of the screen reflected, as well as cars and passers-by, and none of it is faked.
Is it enough to make me buy the game at release, at full price? Not really. But I feel the pull.

Anyone remember Stranded Deep? One of the OG early access, sandbox survival games. Well they finally released v1.0 today.

I highly recommend Quake 2 RTX, if you haven't played it already. Just make sure to turn off the stupid IRL time of day option, which makes the natural lighting sources reflect your PC system clock.
I was sort of hyped for S-M PC, but then they announced that the price would be $60 USD/$125 NZD. I noped the hell out of there, not paying that much for a 4 year old game! I'll wait a year and get it at a decent enough discount. PSPC games go on sale semi-regularly.

That looks and sounds exactly like Max Payne 1 does in my memories from 20+ years ago.
