2022 HYPE
So what is there to be hyped about this year? For me I think it's mostly the same games as last year.
Gloomwood
Skin Deep
System Shock
Lorn's Lure
That new Zelda
POTENTIAL HYPE
A new studio called Lifetap Studios has 2 games in the works and they aim to release both this year. One is an isometric post-apoc action/driving game with very nice looking vehicle handling called (

The other one is , which is a Porco Rosso / Crimson Skies inspired thing about flying planes and brewing beer?

Ah, the dreaded second second.

Worth noting that Stalker 2 has been pushed back to December, so not a dead cert for 2022.

I think I am most hyped for Dying Light 2. The first game was amazing, and this one sounds even better. One of the devs recently said it would take 500 hours to 100% the game, which definitely has good and bad connotations, but at least it indicates the game world is huge. And they're apparently implementing a stealth component as well. The environments have a great overgrown Last of Us kind of feel, which look amazing. I foresee spending a lot of time in this game in 2022.

Will they be making the protagonist less of a fool?

DL2 reviews so far have been just OK to very good. (PC Gamer gave it an 84, Destructoid gave it 7.5/10, Steam has it at 77%). Early consensus sounds like the gameplay and parkouring are fun, but the story is awful. Trying to decide if I want to jump in now, or wait until they've squashed all the bugs first. I'm picking it up either way. Dying Light 1 got a lot of support from Techland several years after its release, and I'd expect the same here, so the game will only get better.
