Well my estimation of Tallboys and their game just shot up quite a bit. Russian dissidents and outsiders, like other East European studios, make some of the best games out there. I'd be willing to bet more than half of my favorite games since the 2000s have been Russian or East European, and the spirit of games like this is part of the reason why.

Ubisoft announcement:-
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game - Complete Edition. Rescued from oblivion, was pulled off the 7th gen console digital shops years ago because the license expired.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. How good it is, we'll see.

Gods & Monsters has been re-titled Immortals Fenyx Rising. AC Odyssey recycled assets used for a Zelda:o Bored of the Wild clone. BotW is a AC clone anyway, so I wouldn't be surprised if this is a superior game.

Some extreme sports, open world, MP game. Good for people who like that sort of thing, there's certainly a gap in the present market for it.

This one wasn't even on my radar until I saw it released today.
Partisans 1941 is a stealth-tactics game set in WW2, and looks a lot like a modern take on Commandos. Possibly made in the Shadow Tactics engine? It looks quite similar.

Another WW2 game with no swastikas in it. They can't be arsed to get governmental approval for display of them in Germany ((
https://archive.vn/uU9UQ), (
https://archive.vn/IpNiz)), so they take the lazy route of having a global one size fits all version. Why I do have to play games from 10+ years ago if I want setting authenticity and immersion?

Shadow Tactics was made in Unity, so quite possible. :)
Partisans looks solid, but I haven't even finished Desperados 3 yet, so I should really wrap that one up before I even think about getting this.

Some of my local gamedev friends, Platonic Partnership, just (
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1338790/Good_Mourning/) released a new game on Steam. Their last game, (
https://store.steampowered.com/app/629000/Lydia/) Lydia, was a great feelbad gaming experience, and this is very much along the same lines.

The Red Lantern is also coming out today. When I first saw this it looked like some kinda Firewatch-esque narrative-focused thingy, but from what I've read now it's apparently also a kinda open-ended roguelite thingy?

Early reviews are (
https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/the-red-lantern) all over the place from 45% to 90%, but it very much looks like something I'd enjoy. Only on Epic store on PC so I think I'll get it on Switch.

Ha ha that Good Mourning trailer. WTF is going on there? Great teaser.

Scratch that - it's definitely not the same engine - Partisans is made in Unreal Engine 4.
Played it a bit, feels quite clunky compared to Desperados 3 - the controls are a bit awkward and everything is has drab colours that don't really stand out well. Load times are also annoyingly long, as in I find myself alt-tabbing out to read things on the web while waiting for it to reload - not a good thing in a stealth game where some missions instantly fail if an alarm is raised, and you have to reload a lot.
Still, holds some promise despite these issues. Might comment on it again - in the "What are you playing" thread - later.

Something about The Red Lantern appeals to me, so I think I'll have to check it out. I thought the lead female voice sounded familiar, but had to look it up. It's Mel from The Last Of Us II.
Edit: Apparently she's Chloe from Life Is Strange and Aloy from Horizon Zero Dawn too.
henke on 26/10/2020 at 08:29
Ooooh yeah, the voice did remind me of Aloy. Anyway, watching some more gameplay of it I'm not that interested anymore. Gameplay seems very shallow. I wanted something like Jalopy but with dogsledding, but this seems very minimal in terms of player-input. I might pick it up in a sale at some point.
We got 2 other of my most anticipated games coming out later this week, on October 29. Watch Dogs Legion is having ads spammed all over the internet so I'm not gonna bother with a trailer for that, but some of you might've missed Teardown, which is about to come to Early Access.

This destruction and particle tech is some truly next-gen shit. Fans of Red Faction Guerilla will want to check this one out.
