Tetris 99 is the best thing that happened to Tetris in years, I don't see how following the same pattern can really be considered a troll.

You're kidding, right? It's been 19 years since the last F-Zero, people have been asking for another one. First dedicated F-Zero content in almost two decades is a lazy cash grab, glorified rom hack of the OG SNES game.
This reminds me of the period in the mid-2010s where Konami was delivering nothing but Pachinko gambling machines based on their classic video game franchises, rather than actual video games.

Do you think that anyone working on a new F-Zero game would have been been pulled from the team to work on F-ZERO 99? That it's either one or the other?
Just like Tetris 99, Pac-Man 99 and Super Mario Bros. 35, this is the latest in a series of Nintendo Online battle royale games based on nostalgia and it makes perfect sense. I haven't tried it since I don't own a Switch anymore but the others were great and surprisingly deep online experiences, I don't see why this one would be any different and I wish I could play it.

No you don't understand. When a game comes out that EvaUnit02 doesnt want to play, that's the game industry TROLLING him! All the devs need to stop trolling Evaunit, HES BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH

It's not going to be the hardcore rally sim I want (realistic physics/damage/weather/stages) but the build-your-car mode looks like it could be cool.

I've been watching some devs on Twitter playing the demo of this (I'll hopefully grab it later this week) and it looks genuinely phenomenal. It's like an FPS Robocop simulator (so you're slow, tanky, brutal) with light Deus Ex-y elements.

The trailers back in June made it look pretty boring (mostly because they focused a lot on the slow, plodding combat), but it sounds like they've improved things since then?

There's a demo on Steam if you want to try it out. I think it supposedly has a bit of a hub world and some side questing towards the end of it, in addition to the slow, tanky FPS combat.
