Well, this looks amazing:

And it's got single player, unlike Black Desert. I am very, very interested now.

I watched a lot of the Gamescom stream last night but somehow missed that. Wow, there's a lot of stuff in that one.
These also looked pretty good:

Night Dive having a good relationship with Lucasfilm would be fucking amazing. So many games that could use modern ports.

Throne and Liberty looked good too in trailers until it actually came out. Never trust a trailer.

Of course, that goes without saying. This looks slightly promising because I've heard good things about Black Desert. And even if the protagonist's name happens to be Macduff, I expect the story to be slightly less than Macbeth in terms of quality.

A Dark Forces remaster, color me interested! I tried a source port for that game but it was too buggy and glitchy and it crashed on me in DosBox.

Just popping in to say that Starfield keeps looking better and better. Evidently there will be a focus on modding as much as there was for Skyrim, which is great because modding has kept Skyrim a vital game even now more than a decade after its release.
I think in every period there's a game that defines the highest state of gaming, like if you wanted to introduce somebody to what's possible in gaming, you'd show them that game to say this is the top of where we are now. Not necessarily the most fun or the best or most influential game, but the one that crystallizes the most or best of what's currently possible.
Skyrim was that game for me for a long time. I think the current game would be Red Dead Redemption 2. But I think after Starfield comes out that that honor will pass to that game. I think it's going to deliver most everything Star Citizen promised but hasn't been able to deliver for the last decade.

Gotta say, I'm usually able to see your point even if we're not on the same page, but apart from my kneejerk reflex kicking in - which I'm going to ignore - what does the prospect of a Bethesda game which promises an excess of everything they've ever done, and promises to exacerbate the issues of their gameplay ideology being so incredibly broad that any sense of depth vanishes, have to do with being the guiding light of gaming?*
*as a good thing.

I'm looking forward to Starfield, because I actually really enjoyed Fallout 4 except for the "Fallout" part. It's sort of the DXHR/DXMD conundrum, where they're great games but they have fuck all to do with Deus Ex beyond a superficial level. So I'm expecting Starfield to be really fun, and I won't be thinking "this would be so much better if it didn't have Fallout stuff shoved into a game that doesn't have the good parts of Fallout in it".
