This is more like Anti-Hype, but I saw there was news today that Silksong is delayed - they were pushing to get it out in the first half of this year, but that's apparently not happening. No possible release window given. :(

I hope that Silksong doesn't end up bloated. For me, Hollow Knight was the ideal size for a game of this kind, and while the various DLCs added gameplay, this was in addition to the main game, you could opt in or not.

The ASUS ROG Ally is getting quite good reviews, with the most common criticism being a short battery life if using the high performance mode and the second most common being from people who don't like Windows complaining that it uses Windows.
But the consensus seems to be that it basically makes the top model of the Steam Deck obsolete (much better specs and US price is only $50 higher) and could be used as a solid budget gaming PC if docked (docking station sold separately).

Preloaded and ready to go. Reviews have all been (not surprisingly) incredible.

Big ol' Playstation Showcase just happened. (
https://www.polygon.com/23736345/playstation-showcase-may-2023-new-games-trailers) Buncha trailers, here's what caught my eye.

This looks nice.

Alan Wake 2 looks DOOOOOOPE, and is that Detective Max Payne we get a glimpse of there? HMM!

Liked the first game, never got around to Dark Arisen, might as well just wait for this one.

These Spider-Man games are always good stuff.

None of those looked particularly interesting except for Towers of Agrabawhatever, but it also has the benefit of looking a fair bit janky, so hurray?
That Sword of the Sea thing's reveal made me wonder 'is this Journey 2?' for the initial five seconds, and then I realised it was an entire game based around the one moment of true majesty in Journey - the glittering seas of sand section. If that's its single party trick and raison d'etre, it's a hard pass, because while I liked The Pathless, it came off as lacking any serious amount of depth both in terms of gameplay and narrative. Great art does not solely a good game make. (Also, they need to work on the ripple deformation physics, because some of those dunes looked like spreads of weird bouncy mattress.)
Talos Principle 2 looked great, and pretty ambitious for a puzzle game. Ultros, Neva, and Revenant Hill (that cat looks oddly familiar, and no I'm not sorry for the pun) are all far more intriguing-looking affairs to my eye, and this isn't me scoffing at AAA games, it just seems that there's more flavour and life to them in comparison to most anything else in that presentation.
Edit: also, an MGS3 remake from Konami, minus Kojima. Given there was only some pre-rendered footage, in which they already botched Snake's face just slightly enough to make me wonder who's behind the art, I'm already suspicious of its quality.
And we might as well have the trailers:

I'm a VR Man now, and while this showcase was a big disappointment overall, two titles stood out for me.
Resident Evil 4 Remake VR mode

I mean, there's not much here, but it basically confirms that it'll be like Village, which is exactly what I'd hope for.
Second is Synapse, which apparently has the real voice of Solid Snake in it.

Some good shootin' and good box flailin' a la Tears of the Kingdom. I guess it's a roguelite? VR trailers always look kinda janky, but I try to see past it since things always looks so much better in the headset.
For a moment I thougth Ultros was actually the new Hollow Knight with a radically different character design, but in hindsight the animation isn't quite as smooth. Looks good, though. And is Revenant Hill made by the Night in the Woods devs? Or I guess what's left of them. If so, I'm in.
Also, Spider Man looks so boring and I can't believe that's the game they hyped up the most.

It's from El Huervo, the fella who did Hotline Miami's art, and some of its more atmospheric music.

It is indeed. It screamed Night in the Woods at me the moment I saw the first frame, which, well - been a while since a game's trailer just immediately put a huge smile on my face.
Edit: I will say this about Alan Wake 2's trailer, it's made me very curious about what role detective Sam Lake has in the story.

I like the aesthetic here, the concept of just climbing a mountainside, and the story being told by the environment as you climb. I might wish it were a bit more on the simulationist side than the puzzle side of the coin, but still looks like it'll be a great game.

And it looks like MS listened to its audience and made the next version of their flight sim more mission based, with big variety of interesting looking missions. Looks like it'll be almost as cool as henke's Flying Doctor.
I kind of hope/wish it's just an expansion to their existing flight sim and not a completely new game though. MSFS is just starting to become great with all the update content releases it's had, and it's crazy that they'd reset that clock so soon and put content into another game. Not to mention flight sims are so expensive, you want them to last quite a while. That and who can tolerate having two of almost the same 100GB+ sim on their harddrive? Unless the 2nd one is somehow an add-on, it just seems like one would be effective the death of the other.

Right, also have to post this in case anyone hadn't gotten the memo yet. This is like the 8th game in as many years trying to do this thing. Maybe this time they'll get it right?
