I'm glad that they're looking after themselves and their health first and foremost, even if this does hurt:
Night in the Woods is one of my favourite games ever*, it's definitely one of a very small number of games that have affected me most and that I remember the most vividly, and Bethany Hockenberry and Scott Benson are unique voices. The medium is poorer without them IMO, and I wish them and the other members of Glory Studio only the best.

Night in the Woods was very much about storytelling by means of the medium of games, and it's definitely not the kind of game for people where gameplay must come first and everything else is secondary at best. I'd still very much argue that what it does and its effectiveness at doing this is in no small part due to it being a game.

Disappointed, but I understand that health and well-being are more important in the larger scheme of things. I hope they get every chance to get better.
I love NitW also, and was looking forward to this one, because that experience sunk its hooks deep into me. I still have the 'proximity friendship' conversation lodged in my head, of all things (but also one of Mae's first conversations with Gregg, who has cups on his ears). I think the entire game in retrospect had a quiet desperation about it that was entirely too relatable, and I don't mean in the English way - a lot of its characters had already semi-resigned themselves to their fates, digging down deep into their fears in the process. That's powerful shit for a game full of quip-happy, breezy conversations. I'd say that it's powerful because of them, even.

Well guess we won't be getting a new Thief game anytime soon.

Some might even say the new Thief game has been...

Speaking of disappointment and hate, I'm almost sure I'd hate a new Thief game.
So I don't think of this as a bad thing.
Besides the Black Parade was the best new Thief game that anyone could have hoped for.

Arkane Studios would be fantastic at creating a modern Thief, I think - but it's sadly unlikely to happen.

Not if Redfall is anything to go by.

Oh, yeah. I played the demo for that Prince of Persia game. It's all right. There's this feature that I've been reading people wanting in comments for years, the ability to pin a screenshot to a map - and this one lets you do it. It is very neat.
Apart from that, the gameplay's fine, the platforming is slightly better than serviceable, the combat is what you'd expect in our ongoing indiemetroidocene epoch, and it looks okay. Like a pretty swish and stylish mid-2010s title. It's all right.
But this is the thread of disappointment and hate: so, from what I played, it still isn't goddamn Prince of Persia (read both figuratively and literally - you're not the prince, though there's definitely a lot of Persia in it, set in a mythical Iranian mountain and all). And yes, I'm aware Mechner likes it and responded to that exact point, but I think I'd like him to get back on design for the franchise someday, because what I'm really complaining about, and have been for the past decade and more, is that Ubisoft's attempts at the franchise have never been great without him, and video gaming needs more of him in it.
