Fed Ex said there was nothing they could do and told me I had to take it up with Walmart. Walmart told me to file a police report, so I did, sent it to Walmart, and confirmed that they received it and had escalated the ticket. Now I'm waiting two to three business days to hear back from them. Hopefully I'll know by Monday.
Man that sucks to hear about, good luck with all of that.

At least Walmart didn't tell you to take it up with FedEx and FedEx to take it up with Walmart. The FedEx part is expected; they generally only deal with the shipper. Hopefully you'll get your money back without any additional wrangling, but a sucky experience and extra stress either way.

Thanks! I spoke to them today and it sounds like I will be getting a refund; just have to wait for it to be made official.

As for this revision: for a time the confederate flag had a dual meaning. To most groups it remained a symbol of slavery, but to some white people it was inexplicably a symbol of personal liberty. But now this duality is gone. The meanings of the symbol have merged, and this revision is akin to removing outmoded slang.
Symbols do change meaning over time. My guess is that things really shifted post-Charlottesville. The symbol was more of a generic rebel/south thing before that but now it's intrinsically tied up with a rising white supremacist movement. Also: Jan 6th was a burning-the-reichstag attempt to overthrow the US government and people were parading that same symbol during the coup attempt.
Let's face it: that symbol now means the coup attempt to overthrow American democracy. Neutrality on the symbol now means you're staking a position of impartiality on whether USA should become a fascist junta or remain a representative democracy.

Fingers crossed and that you are able to source another one.
Sucks that this shit is still going on. A friend of mine had his PS5 intercepted and stolen in transit around release (he pre-ordered way in advance). He got a replacement, but had to wait a while, which must have stung a bit after going through the trouble to pay up front.
It's grating that these issues haven't been resolved yet. Perhaps it is not cost-effective to fix the issue systemically vs just issuing refunds / replacements.

I hold out some hope that American conservatism's turn toward radicalism is ultimately self-defeating, but it's scary to be part of a country that's taken so many steps on the road to fascism.

PS5 update: my refund is processing; should have it any day now. :D
And in the meantime, I got a notification that Costco had bundles in stock, so fuck it! Bought one. Here we go again! This time with a doorbell camera that I installed on the weekend :thumb:

The nice thing about ordering from Amazon on expensive stuff is you can have it delivered to a locker at a nearby Whole Foods or something similar, and then just pick it up there.

Playstation arrived safe and sound, finally, although the replacement courier, UPS, just left it on my doorstep without ringing the bell or leaving a slip despite the fact that it clearly said that a signature was required on the tracking app. So hear's a last sloshing of disappointment and hatred over all of the American courier companies (Canada Post is the only delivery service that's been reliable this year). But much love for the PS5 itself, that I'll talk about in the nice thread <3
